$42 something.
They've been doing this and stealing listings/customers from Kijiji for the past 6 months, they're quickly going downhill.
By them advertising this on their website is showing how desperate they really are!

Not sure if everyone at RFD know about this but Kijiji's autos categories actually gets more traffic than autotrader.ca. And Kijiji is completely free, with listings lasting 60 days instead of just a week.

x0dus, how do you know this? Do you have a link to a news story or something? Thanks!

Try it for yourself. You will quickly discover the popularity this site has gained. I advertised a litter of puppies and received over 1200 views in 2 days.

The fact that Kijiji is the #1 car site in Canada comes from comscore, an independent third party. Kijiji itself now gets 7.7 million Canadians a month.

autotrader constant calls
i posted to autotrader using the freebie 7 day listing. after 7 days, keep getting calls from them wanting me to answer survey. kind of a hassle. ad kept running after 7 days. had to email them twice to get them to remove it.
kijiji is more convenient because you control the ad. just my 2c

Thanks op! I may consider Autotrader again soon, (only because it is free for the time being.)
I also posted on kijiji and craigslist last fall when selling my car. Not sure which site (maybe all?) was the cause, but I got one legit customer call, and the rest were all "re-sellers" offering me a chance to be able to sell my car for asking price OR MORE if i payed an up front admin fee.
These guys are a pain the a$$. You think you have a buyer on the phone when they ask you about your car, then all of a sudden they say there are able to sell MY car for the asking price if I sign up with them. They have their one strange automotive sites to sell your car on. Pretty shady looking websites.
Finally i got fed up with these guys and started messing with them. Id let them talk and talk and talk on and on about what they can do for me, then at the end of the 5+ minute conversation about details of my car, i tell them i just sold it yesterday. Hehehe they get all mad, i love it.
They waste my time, I'll waste your's.
BUT, i want to put my car up for sale again this spring...Not looking forward to these clowns calling me. Going to have to come up with more witty ideas to get them mad. haha
Do you guys normally just post an ad with an email address and leave out your contact phone number? I may do that this time.

You're welcome...
OMG, yes these people are SO annoying, waste your time and are the biggest scammers alive. Keep changing numbers and company names.
If someone calls, first question I ask them if they are representing any company. If yes, a stern "Do not call again" and hangup conveys the msg well I think.
I think autotrader forces you to put a phone number... ie. they always print/post it.
