Average Energy cost for Condo?
Just moved in to a new condo in downtown Toronto, it's 1 bedroom + 1 den and 2 bathrooms and apparently there's a new thing setup where each suite is metered alone for electricity usage. So instead of it being included in condo fees the electricity is paid seperately. I'm just wondering how much is the average cost of usage is? Just wondering what other people pay on average. There's only 2 people living and we don't over excessive use but are pretty moderate about our usage.

It should be pretty cheap. Taking from my friend's bill, 800 sq ft condo, he uses only computer and a couple of lights each night, and of course the washer/dryer.
Each month his bill is about $30. Most of that is admin and delivery charge, I think the actual consumption only comes to about $17 ?

Thanks for the reply, I'm sure my consumption is going to be a little more since 2 people living here but ballpark I'm guessing maybe double at the most which is within my monthly budget which means I can spring for more than basic cable now.

Hehe. Just make sure you use energy efficient things (bulbs, etc.) My friend also has 2 ppl living there.
If there isn't kids or older parents, then lighting will be kept to a minimum most of the time.

My place is also 1BR+Den+2Bath and I pay about 30/month in electricity.
I think it is better to be individually metered because if it is included in the condo fee, then people will waste it a lot. And even if you are efficient with your power, the collective wasteage will push condo fees up, so you will be subsidizing the power of other people. This is especially true for owners of smaller units like you and me.

condo electricals are generally cheap unless your heat is baseboard
most of the energy using stuff is done by the condo corp -- like hot water for your dishwasher and laundy
the only really usage item in your home will be your dryer

Fridge/freezer is also a big electrical draw.
