Average Monthly Cost of Utilities (Hydro/Gas/Water) - FREEHOLD HOUSE ONLY

2018 is done. Has anyone actually calculated your average monthly usage?

I'm only missing the last Hydro bill for 2018.

The numbers on my spreadsheet are pretty much accurate for the year.

Edited. Updated with cost of final hydro bill of 2018.

Dwelling: 2 story brick detached. 3 bedroom / 3 bathroom / Living Dining Family Rooms / Unfinished basement / Garage is 50% in the home with bedroom above. South-facing.
Household Members: 2 adults

SW corner of the cou…
Hydro 14 MWh for the year
LPG - didn't fill the tank last year. Only ran generator to test for 20 mins or so. Rest of LPG for 3 LPG rings
Water - $15 a month for household use (~7.5 tonnes per month). Substantially more in summer for landscaping (no lawn) irrigation as we go 2-3 month typically w/o and measurable rain. Almost $1k
$40 a month for garbage 26x a year.
Almost too cheap to shop through RFD

So you're only interested in Dollars ($)? and not actual usage?
Rates are pretty much the same ...

Usage x Rate = Cost

Obviously it is known that:
(a) the larger the home = more usage
(b) the larger the family = more usage

Thunder Bay Ontario, 3200 Sq/f 4 year old house (R2000) with 2 adults and 3 kids. 2 story, 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom, finished basement, 2.5 car garage (unheated and not counted in total Sq/f of house). Just under 1/2 acre lot with little lawn watering.
98% Efficient Natural Gas Furnace, Tank-less Natural Gas Hot Water, Natural Gas Kitchen Range, Natural Gas Cloths Dryer, Natural Gas BBQ. No electric heat or central air.

Natural Gas for the year $873.02 = $72.75 / month
Hydro for the year $612.24 = $51.02 / month
Water for the year $503 = $41.92 / month

Utilities per month = $165.69

Maybe Gas.

But Rates differ noticeably for water one municipality to another and greatly if you're in high density urban vs rural for Hydro. Then there's fixed costs as well, some have higher fixed costs in their bills.

I'm just pointing out you're asking for "Usage" but your posting about $$. That's not the same thing.

Usage would be as you know KW, M3 for water and gas.

This is just going to turn into a competition of who uses the least, and then get over the top to the extreme of lying about it

Thanks for your input, it really helps this thread.

P.S. - Who lies about utilities? Seems to be an absurd statement since its so easy to post proof. You have a pretty low view of your fellow RFD'er...

Changed title to "Cost" ... from "Usage".

Hydro Rates - PowerStream or another company - depends
Gas Rates - mainly Enbridge ... unless you use another company ...
Water Rates - depends on Municipality
