To assist further...call the Hertz reservation. 416-620-9620...inquire about renting a car...and also esnure you mention the CDP number. THey will ask if you are 25 and under...at this point, inquire with the agent as to if your CDP number waives it off. Everytime I do it, they verified and smooth sailing from there.
hope that helps!

However, if you do get caught, both renter / underage renter could be on do not rent list (black list) forever.
If you get in an accident and have rental car coverage while your car is in the shop then they will rent to people as young as 16 and 8 months, provided someone over 25 is there as well.

Would anyone happen to know if they check for the expiry date on your license when you give it to them? I had my G2 and i let it expired, and now I got my G1 and I can get my G2 anytime I want but will be put on a waiting list, if I show the guy my old G2 license you think they check for expiration date or they just check to make sure its a G2?

That's because you already have insurance on your own car.. If you get into an accident with a rental, everything is dealt through your existing auto insurance company.
I'm over 25, but I rented a full size car (Chevy Impala) with Hertz.. $129.05 is what I was charged on my Mastercard.. Picked up Friday morning, returned Tuesday morning.. Drove from Toronto to Pittsburgh to NYC and back to Toronto. 2500+KMs.
There are some Avis that'll waive the underage fee. I think the one on Sheppard & Midland does on some cases..(Don't know the criteria.)

I personally don't own a car, but (in my case) still have insurance coverage through my parents. Does anyone think I would still be able to rent a vehicle, being less than 21? Or do you think they would be picky and say at least 21/25 or something.

No, but I believe that if you have insurance already and you aren't 21, you won't get charged for their 'under 25' insurance fee thing. If you're over 25 they don't ding you because statistically you're less likely to get in an accident.

having regular auto insurnace have no effect on underage charge, just because you have insurance doesnt mean your any less of a risk, it all depends on the policy of the specific location your renting at.

If you are under 25 and want to rent from Enterprise since they don't have an underage fee, then YES, you need your own car insurance and need to prove it to Enterprise.
Otherwise, NO, you should not need your own car insurance.. most people who rent cars most likely don't have their own car, so why would they pay for insurance??
