Connect $69.99 USD

New Connect Duo $79.99 USD now back to $99.99 but Walmart.com has it for $79.99 USD if you can find a way to ship it. They also have the 4-tuner Connect Quattro at $124.99 USD which seems to be a decent price.

US model will work in Canada.

Canadian model is bilingual

"The CONNECT is the previous generation model. The CONNECT Duo is its direct replacement. It features newer tuners with improved reception and lower power use. They otherwise have the same features and functions. " from SD.

Interesting. What's the difference between the Connect & the Connect Duo? Both seem to have dual tuners?

Seems like make the Duo is just a design refresh with maybe no LEDs on it?

I had one, the fan started to make noise after a week of use, got replacement, fan failed month later.
Got the fanless Extend ( with encoder) no fan and works perfect for over a year now :)
Easy streaming to 2 devices over WiFi

Only issue I see with these one has to pay a subscription for a tv guide. It will work without a subscription though, but you won't be able to PVR anything.
OP did list it in the first post when he started the thread.

I listed both and we discussed above. Any input on difference?

Are you saying the Connect Duo had fan issues? I thought the Extend has the encoder?

Ooops, thanks for correcting me, I have the Extend

Yes, the fan on the connect is annoying before it stops working all together

I've seen many places "For use in US". Do these work in Canada?

wonder if guide subscriptions can be shared or they tied into the device?

Great question. I see this:

2 tuners
8-VSB (ATSC over-the-air digital TV)
Works with our HDHomeRun DVR service
100baseTX high-speed network
1 year warranty
Please note: This product HDHR4-2US will only work in the US.

They work great in Canada regardless of what ads/packaging says. I've got the Extend on home network and the very first generation HD Homerun Model: HDHR-US running on my office network. Remember to check TVfool.com to see what OTA channels are available in your area

Also their forums are excellent places for questions/answers

I find you don’t save with free shipping from B&H. When you pay for shipping you can prepay the tax with a 99 cent brokerage fee on the whole order. When you get free shipping ups will charge tax on delivery. Most of the brokerage fee is discounted, but it still works out to $5 or more per item in your order.

New Connect Duo $79.99 USD

NOT SURE IF THIS PRODUCT WORKS IN CANADA Just saw this after posting:

100baseTX high-speed network

The products work in Canada, but I don’t know about the subscription. I use Plex as my Dvr. There were some bugs at first but those seemed to have been worked out. The one issue is the dvr uses too much resources for transcoding, so I had to use a second server just for the dvr.

One thing to keep in mind is you want to install these very close to the antenna and they don’t include onboard wifi... so you’ll be running power and lan to your antenna.

You wont get any better signal, what this allows you is basically place a single antenna in the very best possible location for reception and then connect it HDHR which will deliver your TV signal to every other compatible device (regardless of its location in the household or whether or not its equipped with an OTA tuner).

There is also PVR functionality.

Yes, its not WiFi equipped, but you can get around that by just connecting it to a wireless AP (or a powerline adapter if you have capable wiring). So running a cable between it and your main router/switch is not really a must.
