Surface Pro 6 Deal for US$699 on B&H Photo Video Shipping to Canada Free

Deal Link:
Price:
699
Savings:
US$200 Off
Retailer:
B&H Photo Video
It is CA$150 cheaper than if you buy it from Canadian retailers. TypeCover is also on sale. To save more, you might want to also take a look at these nice special edition TypeCover on Amazon with NHL team logo on them. Albeit they are for Surface Pro 4 but they nonetheless work perfectly for Surface Pro 6.

By the way, in my opinion there’s absolutely no need to buy a surface pro with more than 128Gb storage. It is not like Apple laptops for which there’s no way to extend the memory. There’s a SD slot on Surface Pro and you can just plug in a $25 128GB SD card and voila, it becomes a 256Gb model.

I just added it. I also corrected a mistake. It’s on sale for $699, not $599.

Sorry I made a mistake. The sale price is $699. There’s no duty on electronics. The tax is the same 13% GST and HST you would have to pay anywhere. Compared to the CA$1050 sale price on BestBuy, you save $150 plus tax.

Although true, good to keep in mind that expanding with SD storage won't have same performance as internal solid state.

Well half storage for installing apps and the other half for photos, musics and videos.

Half-agree with you there. It's not the same as having a 256 GB model because like others have said, the performance and reliability isn't the same.

If the extra space is just to throw music and movies on, it's perfect. If you're going to be working with files stored on the SD I would strongly suggest the upgrade, video editing, photo editing etc. is going to suffer from it, and for mission-critical files I don't fully trust the SD card (unless maybe you opt for an endurance card that's rated for the read/write cycles).

Even the fastest SD card is nowhere near as fast as an SSD, and the 256GB SSD is even faster than the 128GB SSD. It really depends on what your primary use on the Surface pro is.
If speed with capacity is a necessity, I would strong recommend against the 128gb SSD / 128gb SD card combination. Go with the 256gb AND a 128gb micro SD to future proof your device, and you get the added benefit of the matte black ;).
Also note that of the 128gb, only 53gb is available out of the box. In today's standards, that is not usable for any reasonable amount of software/ media.

This might be worth a read:
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Microsoft ... 686.0.html
In short: "The 256 GB SKU achieved higher read and write speeds than the 128 GB model. On average, it performed around 30 % better."

That’s not true. I got mine and there’s more than 100GB available. But I agree with you it depends on what you use it for. For business and software development purposes, it’s more than enough.

It's $1049+tax at BestBuy, what am I missing here? By ordering from B&H we only save $125, which is a measly 10%, plus you have to deal with a US shop. What's so hot about it?

Microsoft still has the refurbished 2017, 8GB, 256GB version for $850 on their site if anyone isn't adverse to that label. Bought one a month ago and its been top notch.
