Yeah but no one pays that, they always get it in a bundle or a new in box one is $200ish on Kijiji.

This was $799 Cdn last Black Friday, no? This bundle is getting old and I'm waiting for $599 Cdn.

YMMV but I found an eBay posting a few months ago for this exact bundle for about $830 Canadian all in. This bundle doesn't seem too cold especially if you want that 55-210mm.
To buy or not to buy...

$678 USD for Ontario is $915ish Canadian at credit card exchange rates. Pretty cold especially with Black Friday coming up.

In addition to the fact that this is a 4+ year old camera that doesn’t do 4K video.

The camera is great, but this is too much money for it. It's also worth noting that cameras purchased from US retailers will not have a valid Canadian warranty. It's not worth buying camera gear from the states unless you are saving more than 20% off the Canadian equivalent price.

Haha, ya, sure, try finding a single person who actual pays MSRP on that lens. Quick kijiji search shows one for sale for $250, I'm sure you could get that knocked down to $200.

That lens is OFTEN included in a variety of bundles, and many people sell them off.

I own the lens. It's a crappy lens but usable. I got it for $199. No one will buy that lens at $449. If you want I can sell you mine for $300 ;)

Just curious how many of you guys actually use 4k video? As someone who shoots video regularly, the amount of space that 4k takes up is huge. 1080p is already a storage challenge. 1080p for me for a long time.

Every chance I get. There are a multitude of advantages:
  1. First off it's far more future proof, look at 480i or 240i footage today, it looks like crap. Yet when DVDs came out everybody marvelled at how good it looked. DVD is a 480p format. While 1080p looks fine for today but once people get used to 2160p (or above) it'll look like crap
  2. Shooting 4K allows you to crop/pan/edit in post, don't like how you framed something? If you output at 1080p you can crop your 4K image.
  3. It looks better, even when output at 1080p. Lots have tests have shown how 4k footage, downsampled to 1080p looks better then a native 1080p flow
  4. More efficient codec. HEVC is more efficient then x264, so while 4K footage uses more disk space then 1080p, it's not usually 4X
  5. Storage is cheap - I recently bought a 6TB drive for less the $200. 4K might need more storage, but 6TB is alot of footage
  6. If storage is REALLY a concern, then shoot at 4K, do your post, output at 1080p. You get all the benefits of a 4K flow, but use only the final storage of 1080p
