Baby monitor that doesn't interfere with 2.4 GHz router
I'm in the market for a video baby monitor but all the recommended ones are on the 2.4 GHz frequency which in theory will interfere with my internet router. Does anyone have experience in minimizing this interference? Or can anyone recommend a video baby monitor that uses a different frequency?
Thanks in advance

I ran into the same issue a year ago and decided to just get an IP camera. It was less money, allows for full motion, has phenomenal night vision, and best of all, there is a free app available so I can view the images from either a PC, iPhone, iPad or my Android phone. It can also allow for two way communication, though for some reason I've only been able to get incoming audio to work for me, but that's really all that I need.
The downsides are that it is more complex to set up, the Android app is a bit buggy (but iOS devices and PC work flawlessly), and you render your viewing device useless while monitoring your baby.
Still though, after having looked at all available options a year ago (and the associated pricing), it was a no brainer.
In case you're wondering, I got a TrendNet unit from Dell.ca when it was on sale last year for about $140 or so with free shipping.

I found a baby monitor pretty useless... I agree Prof, get an IP camera.
Foscam IP cameras are relatively cheap and work very well. The camers support IR for night vision and even have audio recording and playback (you can talk to your baby
) You can buy from foscamcanada or pick up locally in Scarborough. I got the FI8918 camera ($90.00). Foscam also has a newer FI8910 model (Wireless N support) but I don't have experience with it.
These cameras connect via WiFi or Ethernet.

you can also try changing the channel on your router if you're getting interference.
also, the interference might also be caused by other baby monitors in your area. in my neighborhood, there are alot of newborns so when we put a monitor in my newborn's room, it started picking up other baby monitors. you know how creepy it is to hear a baby crying in the middle of the night, running out to your baby's room and seeing that they're sound asleep?

Newbie
Our baby monitor had interference with something too (probably the router) and we ended up getting a Foscam IP camera. It was about 80 bucks on ebay. It definitely is money well spent. We are completely satisfied with it. I too would recommend this option.
