Backpacks at Rogers Centre?
I'm going to tonights Blue Jays game and couldn't find if backpacks are allowed. It'd only have my laptop in it along with a coat. No drinks, food, or alcohol.

Yes ... but why would you be bringing and expensive equipment like that to a crowded area. You go to the jay's game to play on your computer?

So even if it's a laptop in a case I still have to check it in?

I see people walking around with $500+ cell phones all the time... I'm working on stuff with a group downtown and going to the game straight after. Also, even if I didn't have my laptop with me, I'd still ask because I always have my backpack on me since it has my coat and other things in it.
I'll post back with what happens tonight with the laptop and backpack.

They allow food and drinks in certain containers.
They allow bags smaller then 16x16x8 into the stadium.

Bags are allowed but they will be inspected from inside and outside
Only things they have a problem allowing are weapons and DSLR cameras

Not necessarily true, as I've seen numerous people take DSLR's into the stadium, as well as take picture with them during batting practice / games.

I'll leave my boxcutter at home. Circa 9/11.

As far as food and drinks, they forced my friend to either drink or throw out her apple juice tetra pack (it was the soft kind). So I don't know how people are getting in with stuff. They also do have a box to measure your bag, mine was bigger but they still let me in just fine.

I got in with my multi-tool. Hell, they didn't even check the section of the bag it was in (wasn't trying to hide it - completely forgot about it) and it makes my bag noticeably heavier on one side if you aren't use to my bag.
As per the laptop, they do poke around your bag slightly with what appeared to be a drum stick and when I informed them of my laptop they asked for me to turn it on and to show them the login screen. Then they wrap a tag around your bag and away you go. Pretty painless, although I'd recommend females to have their bags/purses neatly organized as them seemed to spend more time looking at them.

Went to the Jays game tonight too.
brought my Lowepro bag with my D70s in it.
The guy quickly glanced inside it, felt the bottom of it, and that was it.
I was pretty scared seeing how poor the security is. But if i can't sit down and be bored for 2 hours by a crappy sport, then the terrorists win.
