I recently returned something to BR without a receipt and was told I would be sent a credit certificate instead of them issuing a store credit on a gift card on the spot.

Question is - if I purchase something less than the value of the certificate, will the store give me the remainder on a gift card? I assume they can not make you use the entire amount on a single purchase, and assume they will not send you another credit certificate for the difference (or do they)?

I'd like to figure out a way to turn the certificate into a gift card, so I can use it at the gap and old navy. I was told I can not purchase a gift card using the credit certificate...

Anyone know anything about their policies?
