Basement ceiling - accordion noise
I have read a number of threads about basement ceilings here. Quick question about my own.
The heating ducts are almost flush with the joists. I am trying to create a practice room for accordion and electric piano in that room. Seems like insulation would not really work. I don’t need it to be completely soundproof, just deaden the noise a little For the occasional practicing, while others are in the living room above. There will not be carpet in either room.
Would it be worth just having the 1/2 inch drywall, green glue and 1/4 inch drywall? I am looking for a little isolation of sound, but not for thumping bass...
Thanks.
