Basement flooding

what should i do its slowly flooding from a drain. It looks as if some dough like substance is coming up and water is coming up too. Should I try using the plumbing device used for toilets to push it back down and try to clear it? cause my mom doesn't get back from work for another 3 hrs

anyone have any contacts for 24hr service cause i think i'll be needing to make an emergency call cause its filling up and the carpet is getting wet

Have something you can block it with? Is it coming up the shower drain or toilet as well?

I was in Winnipeg in '93 and my grandparents basement was flooding. We put sandbags over some of the drains and that seemed to slow it down from what I remember. But not much you can do to stop it if it's coming from outside the house.

Make sure you take stuff off the floor that could get damaged and I would suggest calling your mom for advice.

shower drain and the drain on the basement floor are both spilling out smelly water and some vegetable matter and something that might be toilet paper

Be carefull with sewage, you don't want to get sick.

I don't live anywhere near you so I would suggest looking in the yellowpages for some help. Is it flooding at your neighbours as well, they might be able to help.

heh i hope not i think i'm gonna call the emergency sewage line that i just found if anyone ever needs it here's the list of numbers here

becos the SAME ***** happened to me 1 month ago...my entire basement is finsihed with hardwood flooring...and my rooms in the basement...one of the pipes burst in my room and the basemetn was flooded with about 6 inches of water all over..no one knew cos no one was home..

you should turn off the main water switch...it is somewhere in the basement.once that is turned off your house will have no water..but atleast that will stop that flooding.

call service master asap...they will fix the pipes...and then u will have water again..

becos our basement is hardwood...all the wood will warp...so the guys came in with MASSIVE blow dryers to dry out the water..they then had to remove ALL the hardwood..cos it was starting to warp..also a few off the walls had to be knocked down becos the insulation got wet inside - > mold wil grow if left untouched.

crap thats not good cause the whole basement was newly renovated last month

you shoudl talk to your insurance right away as well..take alot of pics if possible..

my insurance convered everything...and i also took alot of pics just incase..

Pipe came off the bathtub drain a few months ago and the entire tub of water went right down into the rec room. I was up til 7 in the morning removing the carpet and cleaning up.
