I've heard this from a friend only. He says: you have to fill in an application on the spot, but it's actually a secret exam to test your communication skills. So get your spelling, grammar and organization of ideas right. And try fill up everything quickly. It's good to be first to submit the form, as it creates an impression, but don't botch it up.

The person receiving the forms is actually your first tester. She'll look through the form and ask you to wait for your selected department manager's interview, or thank you and say they'll be in touch...

Basically, if it's an interview, you're in, because they usually need people right away.
