[Merged] BB Playbook for $99 (16GB), $149 (32GB), $199 (64GB) thru RIM employee

[Merged] BB Playbook for $99 (16GB), $149 (32GB), $199 (64GB) thru RIM employee

Ok, just got word that RIM employees got offered a crazy promo for this week:

16GB Playbook for $99
32GB Playbook with HDMI cable for $149
64GB Playbook with HDMI cable and Convertible Case for $199

This is a RIM employee only deal, but if you know someone who works there, then get one through them. Quota is 5 per employee. The way the pricing works is employees are getting $100 back as taxable benefit on top of the employee pricing which is $199/249/299. Since it is treated as taxable benefit, employees would have to pay income tax on that. The actual amount is based on the tax bracket that employee is in. Keep that in mind when reimbursing the RIM employee. Also, shipping is extra ($8 based on one RFD post).

This promo ends December 2, 2011.

Please refrain from posting "me too" and "PM me"... It's against forum rules.

That's all the detail I know.

HOT HOT HOT (if true!)

EDIT: If this deal is reality, then the 2 for $300 error deal MIGHT actually transpire!! that's amazing news!

I got the news from two different sources who knows someone who works at RIM. However, I haven't seen the email myself. But I believe it's true. Definitely hot if you know someone who works there (and is willing to help!)

I wonder how soon before RIM drops the pricing to that level for the general public (like what HP did for the Playbook)...

Keep in mind, with this new program, the RIM employee will get a taxable benefit of $100. If you can find someone to buy it for you, you should pay them an extra $50 to cover the extra income tax they'll have to pay.

wow PLUMMETING!

employee "sales" like this are usually signs of future consumer pricing.

I'd say now that there is fair probability that Playbook will hit $99 retail in the next few weeks/months

as i know if you buy 16g playbook you should pay 99+tax,deliver charge for $15+employee incoming tax for $40, so total is around 155 include everything for 16g playbook.

I'll update the first post if that can be independently verified by myself or another RFDer.

This will sure kill the momentum of the 199 deal.

They really are trying to dump these things...otherwise they wouldn't be giving them away so soon.

Has a taxable benefit portion + shipping. So like someone said above, would be a good to cover that (like $50) for your employee friend :)

Wow this is a sign that they desperately want to move these units out and fast! I wonder what the predicament is?

Working in retail in the past I know this kind of "aggressive" employee pricing in mass quantities usually means that the product is about to drop in price even more for consumers. And that they have a TON of inventory

Keep in mind this might just be a Friends & Family Cyber Monday deal and the pricing might not be made available to the general public ever.
