BB: Samsung Series 5 13.3" Ultrabook Core i5-2467M, $700

Not sure if this would be considered HOT, but I thought it's worth sharing.
I'm guessing it's on clearance, since it has an older 2nd generation Core i5 processor with Intel 3000HD graphics chip, which is roughly 30-40% under performing than the new 4000HD chips found with the 3rd Gen processors.

Seems like it even has a 8gb SSD for fast booting.
What does everyone think?

Decent deal, but I can't be bothered with these until they come with a touch screen. Knowing how awesome Windows 8 is to use with a touch screen, and how crappy it is without...

Probably the new generation of ultrabook is coming out too, I see the current generation of ultrabook deal is flying anywhere now.

Hookbag has the Lenovo u310 at $720ish; PM with FS to get it down to slightly over $700. My only complaint with the u310 is that the maximum brightness could be a bit higher (by all means, its not dim, but Lenovo certainly couldve done better). Other than that, its extremely well built with good performance and battery life.

The gen 2 proc and lack of full size SSD leaves me a bit cool. Looking at this Sony with gen 3 proc and 128GB SSD for the boys fall school for $200 more.

How would people compare this with the Lenovo. The lenovo 310 has New Gen I5 processor, with 32GB SSD drive. Also very nice design IMO. Also BB Has the Lenovo U410 with 8GB Ram, 3rd Gen i5 and SSD drive for $750. Better than the U410 being sold at FS for $829. What do people think of that one versus the Samsung.. Hard to find reviews on the Lenovo considering they are relatively new.

The OS is installed in the 8gb SSD?
Is that enough including updates?

It's most likely one of those hybrid HDDs; the 8GB SSD isn't a separate drive, it's the regular 500GB HDD's cache so you can't install things on the SSD portion manually (as far as I know)

My XP install is over 6 GB not including the 3GB pagefile.sys. 8GB would not be enough. The 8GB is probably a "most used" file storgae space, not dedicated to the OS.

the 8GB SSD is called "Samsung express cache". http://forum.notebookreview.com/sams...k-edition.html
Anyone remember "Readyboost"? It's basically the same thing, only much faster.
