I was looking to pick this TV up awhile back, but I couldn't justify the $1500+ price tag. Does anyone think its not a wise choice to purchase an older model? I'm looking for something with a thin profile and I'm not really sure if something this thin can be had for the same price that is this years model.

Any input?

It's not a 3-year old model and the new model cost 2x the price. I never saw the old model discounted by 50% ! After I my readings, my conclusion is that is an excellent deal for an excellent TV.

Black model is available in store in Montreal and grey online only. So the grey comes 45 $ cheaper with the $100 coupon code but $55 shipping

I have the xbr6 which is similar and there both really good lcds, on par with the samsung 6 series. Just becareful with screen uniformity (back light bleeding and clouding) as well as poor viewing angles (picture washes out from the sides). Otherwise the blacks are great along with the rest of the picture, especially hd and motion flow isnt intrusive at all.

if im not mistaken (someone correct me if im wrong) i think last years v4100 became this years s5100, and last years w4100 became this years v5100. The rest of the models got be3 so its hard to compare this years w5100 to the z4100 but i wouldnt be surprised if they were very close in pq for the most part.
