You want Egyptian cotton.
We had some 800tc sheets, but they weren't Egyptian.
They felt like sandpaper.
$60 will buy a couple of Egyptian cotton pillow cases.

Bed Sheets
Single guy here.... no experience buying crap like linen.
All I know is the higher the thread count, the better the sheets, so i am guessing buying from Giant Tiger isn't the best place.
Any suggestions as to where to buy from to get best value? Is 600 thread sheet count good? ( walmart has a set on for $60 )
Thanks for the the advice.

My advice.....
If you can wait a few months, Boxing Day usually means sheet sets, any size, excellent quality, 9.99 to 14.99

Superstore has some very nice 400TC sheets (white and cream) for $49.99 for the set (KING). I bought them for my bed (only having had Egyptian Cotton before) and love them! Great value!

Different people have different need levels of pampering. Some people prefer flannel, some people prefer satin. Yes, egyptian cotton is probably the best you can buy. Do the touch test and see what you like. One place you could try is Home Sense. They do get some excellent quality sheets and you can get a great deal, especially if they are marked down. Actually Winners gets the same stuff in so you could try there too. One thing to be aware of is that if your bed has the "pillow-top", some of the sheets aren't really deep enough to fit - it's a pain to get the fitted sheet on.

The bed has pillow top and memory foam. Do sheets say "for pillow top beds"?
Honestly, I am not this stupid when it comes to most everything else in life, I just never had to buy bedding before. It was always my mom's or my X's responsibility

I read somewhere anything over (dont remember if it was 500 or 800 tc) is usually just doubled up sheets and being misrepesented as something they are not.
Go for a good set of at least/around300 tc in Egyptian Cotton and you're golden.
That being said, at times you can find good quality linen on sale at Homesense.

I have seen something like "deep pocket" or "for pillow top" on the less expensive sheets. I can't remember exactly what it said. It also should give the size of the pocket and how high a mattress it will fit. Hopefully the sales clerk can explain it to you. I only got used to nice sheets after finishing university and working for several years, so don't stress over it too much. If you buy the best now, you have nothing to work up to

Hopefully your girlfriends won't also be constantly looking for an upgrade or you might as well get the flannel sheets to keep you warm in the winter
Good Luck!
