Anyone know what I could expect to get without HD? I am paying around $63 per month, full retail.
Has anyone gotten a Retention deal for non-HD?

I have ordered all available HD channels... I have not counted them in a while but they start at 800 then go to 873 (I think). 4 are HD movie channels, and around 5 sports HD channels. Many are dual feed, which have SD content, however over the years the SD content is slowly going away...
All new shows are presented in HD, so usually its the older syndicated shows that are HD. Either way, no other provider has more HD than bell... Thats what I chose them for in the first place... I would rather watch nothing at all than have to watch SD... Once you go HD you simply CAN'T go back... Especially if your into sports... Just try and watch a SD sports game after watching a few HD ones... HA!

I did the switch to shaw from bell, gave them my old sd non-pvr reciever (3100 i think) and got a free, brand new HD PVR from shaw (they ran out of refurbs
).
When I called bell and told them I wanted to cancel the offered me a free "rental" for a year, free HD and 20% off my bill for a year. No matter how hard I tried I could not get them to give me a no strings attached free bell system that would be mine after the one year. The csr that I spoke to suggested I take the deal and call back in a year and get another deal - thanks, but no thanks!

Just got my deal. I was paying $69 a month (including $10 for HD). I own my 9200 so rental credits were no good to me. I got 50% off for 6 months, plus one month free, and no contract. The CSR said to call back again near the end of the 6 months to negotiate a new deal at that time. Thanks to the person who started this thread. My 6 months savings are around $240!!! This is on top of the deal I got yesterday for my Bell Sympatico. I was paying $34.95 on a 1 year contract for high speed, but my contract expired. I got the rate down to $32.95 a month plus $5 a month off my home phone and $5 a month off my expressvu. Not sure if this new deal with expressvu will affect my $5 off for the interent retention of not. Time will tell.

[QUOTE=mrwinky;6374281]Hmm I'm not sure how to approach this with bell, I signed a 2 year deal in Nov 2006, I have 9 months left at $90 a month bill. (includes 2 HD and 1 SD reciever) I really dont know what to tell them if I call, that I want to go to Rogers? Just wondering what advice someone can give on what to tell or say to them
I currently rent one HD PVR , one SD receiver and get 6 themes and premium movies channels in addition to the regular channels (no HD channels).
Only into 2 months of a 2yr contract, so I couldn't use the excuse of switching to Rogers. Called Retention and told the rep that I'm having a hard time paying my Expressvu bill b/c it's too expensive.
She gave me free premium movies for 6 months ($19/mo) and 20% discount on total bill right away without any hassles.
I tried to get 12 months free HD PVR rental but was told she would have to send me a new HD PVR inorder to process my request. I declined since I have tons of programming on my PVR that I haven't watched yet.
Thanks SB

I already have a 9200 PVR. CSR gave me 2 choices. 40% off my bill for 12 months or 50% off my bill for 6 months

Currently rent 9200 HDPVR and 1 3100 - also own 1 3100 and 2700.
Called - got 1 9242 HDPVR rental free 1 year (I'll be returning the 9200), 30% off programing. Asked about also renting a 6141 ($10 per month) for a year and got a $60 credit. Supposed to be installed (free) this Sunday afternoon.
I'm happy.

Got the same deal (with the 30% off programming). I mentioned I also use their other services (cell, internet, home phone), so I'm not sure if that was a factor to getting discount on the programming. Hope that helps others.
Thanks!

ALSO, this pvr and the model before it has a known issue with sound cutting out when using HDMI, It seems to be lesser in the newer model mentioned in this thread, but I would plan if possible to not use it(hdmi), I am on my third unit, and the newer unit does make this popping noise. I spoke with the higher tier support, who confirmed it has been a known issue for more than a year, and they are
working on it (yeah right). They say it doesnt happen on component cables..
Just google 9200 9242 sound cutting out to see.
just an FYI, so you dont get stuck like I did.
Is the newer model you mention an HDPVR? Is it the 9242 or is there another one?

hmm I am with Bell but live in Cogeco area which is about the crappiest cable company there is - they don't offer any HD promos to compare with (more $$, less channels, weak hardware).. will the bell rep grill me on specifics if I call in? i'm not good at this kind of stuff
