People, KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR BELL BILL. I switched to Home Phone Lite in mid-January as per my previous post in this thread but when I checked my Bell bill this morning I'm being charged $46 for the month of February -- an amount even higher than the previous $42 that I was paying!
Update 1: I'm on the phone with billing now and it looks like the CSR never actually changed my account or bill back in January.
Update 2: The Bell billing/accounting department believes that "Home Phone Lite" is $26.95 per month. They didn't believe me when I told them that I signed up for $14.95 per month.
Update 3: Bell billing/accounting, after correcting my February bill, now refuses to budge on the touch tone and 911 fee and still refuses to believe that there's any $14.95 package. So my "Home Phone Lite" bill is now $16.95 ($13.98 basic + $2.80 touch tone fee + $0.17 911 fee) +HST = $19.15
It's still lower than my previous $42 monthly bill, but I guess this is just another way BELL ENJOYS RIPPING CUSTOMERS OFF.
Update 4: Those registered at bell.ca can view their past/current bill(s) immediately. This was how I caught the erroneous charge.
Update 5 (Several hours later): So not only did the CSR in Update 1 screw up, but the billing/accounting CSR that day fraked up as well. Billing/accounting never actually added my credit card for preauthorized payments. On top of that, today I received another paper bill instead of the e-billing I signed up for on January 21, 2012. At this point I'm hoping that Bell lays off their entire round of CSRs because this sort of incompetence is mindboggling.
Bell sucks.

Don't you get a confirmation email after the CSR applies the discount!

Don't Wait, Call Now
Agreed,
I had called in a few weeks ago to inquire as to when my current contact will expire, I made mention that I was going to cancel, Reason: Use only my cellphone. I was promptly offered this deal, and it will kick in next week the day after my contract expires.
Don't wait - Call Now - Get them to lock it in now, for the moment anybody's contract expires.
I love changes, and so does my wallet.

Any luck with Touch Tone charges?
I called & was told it's not possible to reverse Touch Tone charge since I'm not using rotational service

You have to speak to LOYALTY. No need to threaten to cancel, just ask "I would like to take advantage of the discount which gives me a final price of 14.95 including touchtone and 911 fees"... say these exact words, calmly, politely, nothing else, then go quiet and listen. I have never had even a minor negative reaction. ALWAYS get it asking it this way.
Try this and report back. Be sure to agree to drop your other discount. Be sure you understand how LD works.
I did this morning, the rep I talked to said it was the easiest request he did so far today because I knew what I wanted. Took less than 10 minutes from the moment I called to when I got the confirmation email.

I just called in, took about 3 minutes, and followed the steps outlined two posts back, by Luskan, and just got the confirmation email. We were already getting the bell basic, and were paying $30 each month. Now we are paying half, for the exact same service! Spaghetti monster bless RFD!

Thanks OP. Took about 10 min and received a confirmation e-mail.
Is it still possible to get the price reduced to $9.97 in a bell bundle? I'm planning on switching from rogers to bell internet.

Yes, you get the 14.95 price as a discount off what you use to pay. $5 bundle credits are in addition.
You should get $ for each Bell service, and a long distance package counts as one. Even though you are insane if you buy Bell LD.
Heard today that Sears' long distance plan is actually just discounted Bell.

Caller ID and call waiting are so overpriced. You got upsold! Those 2 features almost doubled your phone cost I bet.
I trust you DID NOT buy Bell LD.

Luskan was just re-quoting me. But I don't mind. I just want Bell to pay. Glad it worked again.

Good luck!
That is to India Loyalty reps, at least the last 10 times I called it was.
Most recently I called it today hoping to roust some help for friends who have been down on DSL for 19 days now.... I literally begged for help getting to repair management to point out that maybe someone could get us a cellular hub loaner while they flogged across the countryside fixing cables... and he said he could not help me at all. "Not at all I asked?" he said "No, that is not my job"... so being stupid I persisted and asked.. "Well, if instead I had called in to cancel my DSL you would have tried to get me to stay right?" and he says "Yes, sir, but I can only give discounts. My job is to just give discounts when people call me."'
I have not laughed that hard in a long time.
Bell has now killed jobs in Canada to save salaries, and now the people in India and El Salvador are so well trained to read scripts that they see their ENTIRE job as passing out money when people ask. And, ask we will!!
So, let's accelerate this process a bit. Everyone call 1-800-789-7723 right now, and when an Indian voice answers, ask for a discount, just any discount, tell them your buddy or your neigbour got one and you want one too. Name no specific service, just ask them to look and see what you qualify for. See what you can come up with on a random fishing expedition. Report back the amount to this thread and let's keep a running total called "The True Cost Of A Mumbai Call Center". Try to remember the exact words that triggered the deal, report those here as well so we can all take advantage of the "automatons of discountary". Or "Discountarians" or "Moneybackers" or whatever their titles are.
George Cope will love it. We will be saving the money he might spend to determine the profitability of outsourcing the Loyalty reps to India.
My bubble has been burst, I always had respect for "Loyalty" as people on my side. Now I see them only as robots.
