Trying to get a better deal for basic home phone line (no other combo service or features) for my folks. They are paying about 27.50 plus tax after current retention and most recent increase. Bell was not willing to remove latest increase or increase retention promo. Is anyone getting better deals? We will move to voip otherwise.
If you only have a home phone, go VoIP.

Did you check the OP?
Yes, contacted Zara. This is the deal Zara set up. Seems like Markham doesn't get all the great deals we are seeing in other locations.

I know voip is cheaper even if we will have to pay for dryloop for dsl. Still interested in hearing about current Bell best retention deals people are getting on the phone alone.

Smiling Face With Open Mouth I know that but was wondering what other people got. HD or 4K
they offered me 2 HD receivers(one of them is also a recorder) and I asked for one 4K receiver/recorder and a HD receiver instead and I got it for free the first year and $5.00 (edit, its maybe $7.00) more the next year.

5-10 off. Home phone discounts get good when you have TV as well.

So the Bell tech came by and set up the Gigabit fibe. Problem is that I am not seeing the results I would have liked. I checked my NIC and it shows it is capable of Gbps, but speed tests are still under 100Mbps. I spoke with Bell and their speed test page is able to test the speed to the modem and then from the modem to my computer. Their speed to the modem shows Gbps (1280/150) but to my computer its under 100Mbps (97/98).

So where can the issue be if it's not the NIC that is the problem? Connection goes as such: Modem -> cat5e -> Asus AC66U -> Cat5e -> desktop. What else can I check?
Have you tried plugging your desktop directly into the modem?
Sounds like your NIC is topping out at 100 mbps, just because it's gigabit capable, doesn't mean it's connected at 1 gigabit.
Verify the speed by right clicking your connection, going to network and sharing center, and checking the status of the connection.

Is there any penalty to cancelling a service before the promo time is up?

Depends on your contract? Its a tough question to answer. Home Phone and Internet don't have any ECF most of the time but TV does (again most of the time, not always).

Thanks. I had figured it out. I thought the AC66U was connected directly to the Home Hub 3000. It was not. I needed more ports in the basement so I am using an old modem/router as a wired access point (SmartRG SR505N) and that tops out at 100Mbps. Since I need all 8 ports (4 on the HH 3000 and 4 on the SR505N) I had to see where the Gigabit was most useful and plug those directly into the HH 3000. Shame the HDPVR needs to use one of those ports.

I've already been looking for a Gigabit switch for a few months now, so it's about time to pull the trigger and replace the SR505N.

I currently have FibeTV & Home Phone (Internet with another provider) and just spoke to retentions and was offered the following for around $170 before tax:

Fibe Better TV
Home Phone Lite
Fibe 50 Unlimited
4K PVR
Home Hub 3000

I'm assuming I'm not eligible for the deals provided by Zara/Jason since I already have 2 Bell services. Given this, does this retentions offer seem good?

If you have someone else living with you get them to sign up, you will save 60-70 dollars a month, I think that is worth it.

Good idea, Euro2012. Unfortunately, I live with my daughter and she's only 4 years old.
