If you are on prepaid, you might as well try it but not put in additional load. proxy.bell.ca is key, at least to my prepaid.

I am on that too though on Bell Mobility prepaid. Don't top up your prepaid account until you've tested it out (i.e. download 1 or less MB).

When I had the wrong APN setting, my balance went down by $20-30 for 5MB download.

If it worked on your old smartphone, it should work on a new one since information is already on your SIM card. Just make sure you put proxy.bell.ca as your APN setting and not pda.bell.ca

Better yet, check your current APN setting and jot it down, though I'm sure it's only that one field that is going to be proxy.bell.ca initially.

IT WORKS PERFECT. I bought a Galaxy Nexus yesterday from a Virgin kiosk at full price, no contracts.
The Virgin agent at the kiosk told me that I needed to go in my account online and update my phone serial # or something like that. When I first turned on the phone it didn't register immediately to Virgin so I went on my account and the "update phone" tab asked me to insert my sim S/N or phone ESN. It didn't work. So I called Virgin, was put on hold, then the CSR came back saying that the Galaxy Nexus is not compatible with my plan and it will not work. What a disappointment!!! But I couldn't believe it would not even allow me to make calls..... Minutes later I tried calling my home phone and it worked!!! Then tried calling my cell from the home phone and guess what....it worked!!!

I tried to open gmail and the browser, it said that I should purchase a data plan... but only by doing that, I was charged $0.90. Then after I changed the apn from pda.bell.ca to proxy.bell.ca, it worked like a charm. I have downloaded apps from android market and surfed a lot, I even installed netflix and tested it. It works perfect at no charge!!!

Thanks for your help, this made my day (except the $734 for the cost of the phone itself)

glad i can be of help. there was a deal on the galaxy nexus posted on the hot deals thread using the teluswebstore, i was hoping you went that route but really, do enjoy your phone/plan.

oh thanks but is there anyway i can make bell switch me to unlimited blackberry data without adding anymore fees?
i saw a post where some guy called a csr and she made a note about the unlimited data on his account so couldnt i do the same but then ask the csr to put me on unlimited blackberry data?

on page 5 post 63, walmartmartyr was able to get the csr to tell him that he or she has unlimited data so if thats the case cant i just do the same but tell the csr to change the unlimited data to unlimited blackberry data?

If the CSR accidentally removes your UMB, you will be out of luck as no power in the world can reinstated it.

I told my relative at RIM at if they can make a low-end blackberry phone with wifi browsing and compatible with Speakout/President's Choice/Bell Prepaid unlimited, it will sell well on RFD.

Those are the only reasons why I went with an Android though I'd love to support RIM at a lower price point.

1. It's not page 5 for everyone.
2. That is not the $10 feature, that is the $30 feature BISEI, or BISEI as part of a Data Value Pack, or BISEI as part of an All-In-One plan.

There is no RIM provisioning for the $10 UMB feature, no matter how many times you ask.

theres no way the csr would be able to remove my umb because its embedded in my plan and its impossible to take out (ive asked csr's to do it before haha)
