Bell & Newsgroups .. slow connection! Help Please
I just signed up for astraweb's 3 month 39.99 deal. I'm trying to download headers but it doesnt seem to be doing anyhting
.. it appears as if it's about to start downloading but once it hit 5 kbps it goes down to 0 that starts all over again. BTW i'm using newsbin pro.
Does bell not like 3rd party newgroups or what? What's going on here.. i'm sure there's somenbody here on bell + astraweb + newsbin pro
Please help
TIA

I was having a similar problem with a different newsgroup provider. I emailed them and they gave me the details for SSL Encrypted login or something. Then it worked perfectly. I may have the jargon messed up here, but they told me to encrypt it and gave me the server address and login/pw that I'd need. Email astraweb and see if they can help.

I've had the same thing happen to me with newsbin pro. Used to use it about a year ago but stopped usenet with astraweb. Recently started up again and couldn't get it to work, so i tried xnews (freeware), and it worked fine. So I just switched to newsleecher and that worked as well.

no problems here been sympatico+astraweb+newsbin Pro+newzbin combo for 3 years now, no encryption or anything either.
Is your newsbin pro legit? newsbin is one of those programs that really is worth the money
you get lifetime updates too.

I used to used a non-registered version of newsbin until it also did strange things. In hindsight, it IS worth the money and I'm glad I bought it
