"Bell not Available in Your Area"

Hear this... Rogers recently bought out a telecommunications company in my neighborhood. I was happy with this smaller telco company, but now since big red took over, they want me to switch over my phone to digital.

I refused to, and 60 days later they prevented my phone from accepting incoming calls.
They pretty much just left my phone line open to make outbound calls (for 911 emergencies). I can't even make local outbound calls.

Anyway, not that there are any good telco companies in Ontario, I decided I would stick with the one that sucked the least! That's right, going back to Ma bell. So, when I called bell to activate, they said they could not provide service in my area! :O BS! Three people on my street are bell customers!

I refuse to sign up with Rogers. I did not have Rogers cable, did not have rogers high speed, did not have Rogers phone until now, but I'm looking for substitute. Even if I go to IP phone, that would mean I would still need to subscribe to Rogers High Speed (which bites).

Where's the justice in this country? I understand Ma bell rulz 80% of the country's phone subscribers, but please, give the customer the choice!

This is monopoly at it's worst (well on my street, anyway)!

So, I'm challenging you, yes you to provide a solution other than Rogers.

If you're a Bell employee and reading this, I know you can pull strings to provision me for service... let me know. TY

Bell doesn't have any phone subscribers out West.

Yes, but it's a VOIP, so you need rogers internet for it.

I don't know which part of Markham are you in. I know people paid the cost of setting up a telephone wire from the main line to their house many years ago before the day of internet. These houses were in the middle of no where many many years ago. The cost was something big. I wonder if that 3 bell customers of your street were setup that way.

I'll bet you are in a subdivision that was developed by Metrus. They refused to let Bell into the subdivision to bury telephone cables. Metrus had their own telephone switch (Langstaff Rd and Dufferin area) that they backhauled all of their customers across the GTA to - they called their telephone company "Callnet"

Rogers then bought out the company - result - Rogers is the telco for your subdivision.

Does it matter? C is and has been in power. Did they do anything? It seems NDP made more noise in this issue (regarding lack of competition) than C. I am not suggesting you to vote for NDP.
