Jul 12th, 2004 07:44 AM #16I'm also using Maxell R+ and -. My xbox only reads the + but all my other players read both. No coasters yet. And I have made a lot of backups on my dvds and games already.

i had a 800a oc'ed to 822a
thoughts:
- only burned DVD-R with it, but burn speed wasn't always great. I burned Maxell (TY) 4x media, and sometimes it would burn at 4x, and sometimes at 2.4, which was really annoying.
- had lots of problems getting the thing to play nice with my NF2 mobo. If I ran MS drivers, I would get fixation errors while burning CD's, if I ran Nvidia drivers, I would get fixation errors burning DVD's...eventually went with the MS drivers, but it would still only burn sometimes. This might have been due to the fact that I flashed it to a 822a, but the two drivers are pretty much the same (822a's have been reported to be 800a's but flashed).
so overall, for me it wasn't worth the money. Plus FS wouldn't pm for me cause they're bastards, so no way in hell am i going to pay 170+tax @ FS for a drive that's 70 bucks everywhere else. Even for 70 I don't think I would buy it...I'd pay the extra money and go for an NEC or something. Of course, my experience might have been due to media incompatability, but I thought TY media was supposed to be good. Reviews have said that the drive burns +R really well, so maybe I would've had a different opinion if I tried those instead.

I ordered a bunch of samples from blankmedia.ca to see what media I can get to work with this drive. I pretty much ordered one of each of the +R and -R that they carry. I'll post my results once I get a chance to try them all out.

I've got a DW822A and I've burned over 75 DVD in the last 2 weeks with no problem at all. They were all Fuji's +/- (TY01). Since it's corporate data, I don't mind paying a little more for quality media.

Benq 822 letting me down
I have the burner 822 burner and just started to use it more recently
I have been having issues with it making 1 coaster out of 3 or 4 burns
on Benq 8x +r media from FS sale
Any one else having the same issues?
I'm using Nero 6.3.1.20
Benq Burner 822 8x flashed to the latest firmware B3LC
Benq DVD +R media 8x
The DVD burns are passing the burn stage but are failing the verification stage. Tried burning Some @ 4x and 8x. When burning I leave the PC alone.
Any comments on how to solve this?
Thanks
