BenQ W5000 Projector at Costco $2000 (MIR)
Starting September 15th, Costco is offering "up to" $800 off the price of the BenQ W5000 Projector.

Currently BenQ is offering a $500 MIR on the projector which expires September 30th.
BenQ MIR Here
That gives you the lucky buyer a two week window to receive "up to" $1300 off the current price. Now I hear you asking me "what is the current price?". Well, I'd love to say but currently Costco is not showing the product just yet (153447). I would hazard to guess that it will come in around $2400. Deduct the $1300 and you've got one of the best 1080P DLP projector on the market for under $1300 tax in!
I've scanned the MIR details and I cannot see why they would not honour the rebate except that Costco would have to be an authorized reseller which I believe they are according to the AVS forum.
I'll be checking the Costco site to see when they eventually post the price.

Update: Street price appears to be $2800.00-$500 MIR...we suspect the coupon will take an additional $300. Price is only average. Still a great projector considering that Costco will double the warranty.Last edited by 4 rubBeR; Sep 6th, 2008 at 12:22 PM.

Just FYI, the lowest price I can see so far is Canada Computers who's selling at 1949.99 including the $500 MIR.

Are you sure that Costco is not including that BENQ rebate in their number? The "up to $800" off is throwing me. What does "up to" mean? It does say this is a manufacturers coupon .. so maybe coupon for $300 off and MIR for another $500. I dunno. Wait and see I guess.

its what I've been assuming as well since I got the booklet in the mail. I would be incredibly shocked if this was a double discount, the wording on the 'coupon' is very specific to note that this is already a manufacturers discount and other discounts do not apply.

I'm not completely certain, but I think what they are saying here is no other discounts can be applied at the time of sale.
Having the notation "up to" in the corner of the coupon never escaped my attention. It does seem odd...no doubt
but wouldn't they be obligated to note that the sale price is based on a mail-in rebate?
In any case, this may be to good to be true but lets hope for the best!
Stay tuned!

it says its a manufacturer's rebate which means its from BENQ no? I highly doubt BENQ would provide 2 rebates..but if they do i'm all for it!

I have my doubts one will be able to use both the $800 and $500 off.
The Costco coupon states it's a manufacturer's coupon and can't be combined with other offers or rebates.
I'd still like to see the Costco price... $800 off could still lead to a heck of a deal for a highly rated projector.
Now to convince the wife that we NEED to upgrade from the W500 to the W5000

I wouldn't put much faith in that, partly because of Costco's return policy. You've got 90 days within which you can return the item, with virtually no questions asked. I in fact returned my first unit, when not long after I bought it BenQ started offering a $500MIR. When I called customer service, Costco just told me to return the unit and then re-buy to take advantage of the MIR. Costco are very good with their customer service. So there's one return that had absolutely nothing wrong with the unit.
And in fact I'm within my 90 days yet again - although my first $500MIR is outstanding and I'm not sure how it may or may not screw things up.
I'm with other people here, though - that up to $800 is 100% guaranteed going to include the $500MIR.
This is a fantastic unit though. As stated in the Sanyo thread I really prefer the look and advantages of DLP. The vertical lens shift really helped with installation as I've only got 7.5' ceilings in our basement.
It is a LONG throw though, make sure you check dimensions before you buy._______________
Rock it.

I own this projector and felt I got a good deal with the $500 MIR. This is a high quality projector that is highly regarded as being a great picture for the money. I have owned other projectors and this is one of the best for my home theater. Part of the reason for the return rate may be that there have been several firmware updates to correct some problems with picture noise, 1080 p24 synch issues etc. Check the firmware as it should ideally be 1.21. Mine is 1.08 and needs to be mailed, at my expense to Benq to get the updates. A pain but I'm still pleased overall with this product.

*my hopes are fading*
I noted that the MIR at the BenQ site also mentions "This offer cannot be combined with any other offer or promotions." which would mean that if the discount of "up to" $800 is recorded on the receipt, the rebate would likely not be honoured on BenQ's side.
Can anyone confirm that a coupon's discounted value is recorded on a receipt and if it is how does it appear? Does it say Manufacturer's Rebate?
Hey, stranger things have happened, right?
Must stay positive!
