I was wondering what is the best 800 number service available right now?

VoIP.ms and Anveo are some popular VoIP service providers that offer Canadian toll-free numbers. However, you're unlikely to get an actual 800 number as that area code is mostly exhausted. Anveo's user interface is somewhat more complex, but it does more. Anveo has historically less downtime than VoIP.ms due to their automatic failover features. Anveo also charges a fee per incident for technical support beyond initial setup.

If you don't require complex routing features and you can live with "very good" uptime instead of "excellent", VoIP.ms will serve you well.

You're looking at about $0.03/minute if you route your calls to a VoIP device, or about $0.04/minute if you want to forward the calls to some other phone number.

What I used it the best.

Go to Voip.ms and buy DID for 1-888 number. I was able to pay around $20 to get the same last 4 digits as my existing local number.

Have the number forwarded to my regular number. I also forward it to my cellphone when I am away...also there are alot of options to choose from.
You just pay a few cents per minute.

Monthly Fee: $0.99
Per minute inbound: $0.019, 6 seconds increment

* $0.08 for Canadian callers, unlocked on request
* $0.095 for Puerto Rican callers, unlocked on request
* $0.17 for Alaskan callers, unlocked on request
Setup Fee: no setup fee
Channels: Unlimited
VoiceMail accounts: Free
e911 (optional): $1.50 per month / Available only for US dids

I hope that helps.

You quoted the pricing for the American carrier. Canadian is $1.49 / $0.032.

I'd suggest http://www.ringcentral.ca/. Ive been using them for a couple years and i have no complaints.
I have a few different providers for multiple locations, I recommend RC as they have 800 # package with 10,000 minutes a month which works out to .005 a minute. Lots of great features like Auto Attendant, personal recording, multiple extensions. You could look as big as you want running a one man company.
