Yeah, your budget is simply too low unless you want a used one from Kijiji or something (and even then, good luck finding one for that price with all the features you want.

The Lepy is a real POS... sure it works and can pump out more volume than you might think, but they don't sound great and are *really* cheaply made (mine shat the bed in less than a year of light use: the left channel completely died, and the students in the electronics department were unable to revive it - without actually looking at it at board level anyway, which would have been way too much effort for a $30 amp. You can get a much nicer class D for a bit more money.

This SMSL is a sound value. I used it with my KEF Q100s for a few months and it sounded great; now I use it with a pair of small JBL bookshelfs and have upgraded the KEFs to a more powerful class D.

Now I have one of these for my KEFs:

https://www.amazon.com/TDA7498E-Audio-A ... B077GWVHHN

It sounds awesome and obviously packs a lot of power for a little amp (it's very solid and heavy for its size).

Anyway, after my unsatisfactory experience with the Lepy, I'm a big T-amp fan. If all you need is amplification for a pair of stereo speakers (e.g. for PC music/audio), there's no need to splash out on a big receiver or separates unless you have speakers worth well over a grand and/or need all the inputs and features.

That's a good class d amp for the OP's use case, but no way it can pump out 160W per channel, LOL.

Actually now would be a good time to go fishing on Kijiji and Canuckaudiomart. A lot of people probably got deals on BF and Boxing Day and are looking to get rid of their old equipment. I’d do this over getting some POS from Walmart.

With Canuckaudiomart you need to be knowledgeable enough to figure out why the asking price on 20 to 30 year old high end equipment, are in some cases equivalent to or more than a brand new similar one today with more functionality.
It's true they don't make them like they used to, hence so many refurbs even amongst the great brands of yesteryear like Denon and Marantz.

No argument from me. I purchased a Topping for $79 two years ago and they sell for over $100 now.

If the length of the wires is not too long, 14 or 16AWG should do the trick. 12AWG might not fit the holes on the amp ;)
I remember a speaker designer (Andrew Jones?) wrote about his work and how he tests his designs with 14AWG. 12AWG is likely an overkill.
