[Best Buy] $699.99 Acer Aspire E 15.6'' Laptop (Intel i5-7200U/256 SSD/8GB RAM/NVIDIA 940MX/Windows 10)

Crazy Deal for anyone in the market for a 15.6'' Laptop. Working at my local Bestbuy and I've been keeping an eye out for this laptop.
$699.99 for an i5-7200, an SSD AND a dedicated graphics card, not to mention this is actually a Full-HD 1080p Screen with a backlit keyboard with a really good battery life (advertised that it's up to 12Hrs) with 2 USB 3.0 ports + 1 USB 2.0 port + a USB C port, finally it comes with an optical CD/DVD drive. Honestly couldn't find anything wrong with this laptop for this price.

Bilingual keyboard is the deal-breaker for me, especially being left-handed and used to using the left-shift key. Can anyone recommend something similar with a normal keyboard?

This is a great computer. I still have the Lenovo e570 ordered but I'm going back to school from January and I just got this. Better to get one now, install the programs I will use and fill it with the pdfs/lectures etc I will need rather than waiting another 50 days and getting it in the middle of the semester.

Thanks for noticing this, impossible to get a good view of the keyboard in the photos, bilingual keyboards suck!

Generally poor build quality in the Aspire serial, had one old model, after one year use, started breaking everywhere. Overheat issue is annoy.
I agree the spec is good, especially the NIVIDA video card, I would recommend if it's ASUS. or get Lenovo E470 with Intel i7 for a few bucks more.

Pretty hot deal for a dedicated graphics card. I think add an extra fan can fix the overheated issue.

Should take a look at the Aspire S series.
Have had my S7-392 for 3 years already and is still a beast. I've gotten so many compliments assuming its a new laptop (i5-4200U). Too bad they don't update the S7's specs as nothing beats its build quality.
They do however have a newer S5 labelled as the Aspire S 13 which went on sale on the Microsoft store last week.

Yeah I'd be all over this if it wasn't for the bilingual keyboard.

I guess if you missed the Lenovo E570 deal for about exactly the same price for a superior built machine then this is not too bad. Just beware of bilingual keyboard as they cut several keys shorter to accommodate.

940MX If paired with slower DDR3 RAM, which I bet it is in this machine, it's not really a huge step up from the intel HD 620 built in to the i5. Sure, it's somewhat better at playing older games (think 2014-2013 and earlier) but it's unfortunately simply not good enough for any real gaming, specially with only a 64bit memory bandwidth.

It's the GDDR5 version. I bought it today.

I would definitely not trust the images. I'm pretty sure they're just going to be the stock images provided by the manufacturer. And I've never seen a bilingual keyboard in the images when I know for certain that the actual laptop has one.

That's fantastic then, I stand corrected. That GDDR5 gives it a good 15-20% performance boost vs the DDR3 paired versions.

You can remove the optical drive and replace it with an actual hard drive right?

I bought an ultrabook on Black Friday but I may return it for this if you can.

I ordered this laptop, but am wondering how often does Lenovo do their sales. I saw the thinkpad e470 and e570 deals and can't help being disappointed that I missed it.

Does anyone know how frequent that kind of sale from Lenovo is?

It was effectively a price error so those deals don't come around very often. Once every few years?
