This is $20 cheaper than Apple's own refurbished price for the same configuration.

I would have a hard time recommending someone spend $999 on a device with a 5th generation processor and only a 128 GB HDD. I know there's the Apple premium, but even still, Dell and HP have current devices for close to this, and if you really needed macOS, you could hackintosh it.

Hackintosh is more trouble than it's worth...

Yeah, I don't think it's worth it. The MacBook Airs are due for a refresh.

Not worth it, a new entry model replacing the Air is supposed to come out later this year. Also the screen has been subpar for several years now.

Lots of rumours about a new air, new replacement, etc. but I've not seen anything concrete.

I have an early 2015 and love it.

Best Buy MacBook Air . 1.8 GHz ..i5 ..256 GB $250. Off --> 1199.99 Pushpin

I'm settled on this model, Fine for my needs. With $250.00, $1200 is better. Grinning Face

Question.... BB associates try to sell their Geek Care, but I'm leaning toward AppleCare ... (2 years) + 1 additional year CreditCard = 3 year warranty ... For all you folk who are in the know.....am I right about the warranty ? Thanks, Bake.

I do have iPhone, iPad...this will be my first MacBook.

If you buy apple care, the warranty is three years and the is no need for credit card warranty.

Always buy Apple warranty.

Why? Because BestBuy may not be around in the next 3 years.

Last time FutureShop tried selling me a 3 years warranty then went bankrupt the year after lol

lol wrong on both accounts.

Best Buy will not go bankrupt in 3 years and Future Shop never went bankrupt. Best Buy bought it years before, and they converted some Future Shop stores to Best Buy and absorbed all customers, credit cards, and warranties. If you bought a warranty with Future Shop it was still good with Best Buy.

So, first, all of FS's warranties are/were being honored by best buy.

Second, all of those warranties are actually guaranteed by Assurant, meaning they don't go anywhere if BB suddenly goes under.

As far as BB vs AppleCare it depends on a few things. Personally, I've had better experiences with best buys warranties than AppleCare, but I haven't owned an apple product since having access to an actual apple store nearby, so that might improve things.

Note that when you buy a "three year" warranty from either company, that's total, not bonus, and you can't stack your credit cards warranty with the extended coverage you purchase. As far as I'm aware, applecare is a three year program - if you want a four year warranty (like for a university student trying to complete a degree on one laptop), the only four year program I know of is best buy's.
