Good deal. I've found that if you don't use a 48gbps HDMI cable, you will get flickering and/or audio loss on most content, plus the Apple TV will have trouble maintaining its connection to your TV. At least, this has been my experience with the LG65B7 and Samsung 65KS9000. I use this.

Why this device over the Nvidia Shield? The price is right, but other than that...?

Same experience with flickering using an old HDMI cable on an LGC8. Bought the Belkin 4K cable from the Apple store and no more problems.

A good Apple ecosystem product, not really for outsiders in the rational world of Android and Windows 10.

Standalone device-wise the shield is so much better for my family. The Apple TV I could see someone having over the shield if they were very deep into the Apple Ecosystem. TV app, Apple Music, iTunes library and screen mirroring. I have an Apple TV 4th generation and a shield and if a new shield comes out this year I'm ditching the Apple TV

Seems like a good deal for the 32 gb although I have no experience with Geek Squad refurbs, but presumably they do a good job with it. The refurbs of this 32 gb unit direct from Apple are $189, 64 gb are $209. If I were in the market for a 32 gb, I’d go with Best Buy since it’s a $40 cost savings. For the 64 gb one, I might just go with Apple since it’s only a $9 difference and Apple has a pretty strict refurb process.

It comes with standard Apple 1yr warranty - shouldn't have any worries.

Brick and mortar Best Buy stores also carry OB apple tv's. If they have stock manager should be able to PM the website.

This was the first Apple device I have purchased since the 5s

Damn just bought an Apple TV refirb for $189.. this is a great deal assuming the Apple Warranty is still valid from date of your purchase. I don't really trust BestBuy or their geek squad to be honest..

Apple TV vs Shield is a different debate. Personally i hate the shields layout/design and am mostly all-in on the OSX/Apple ecosystem which makes it a breeze to use. Combine this with Infuse and a Synology/NAS and it can do pretty much anything the Shield TV can (or at least anything i need my box to do). Rock solid reliability, guaranteed updates from Apple (so many Android products get abandoned), and if you use HomeKit it can act as a base for scheduling which is handy. Again it really depends for a lot of people the Shield is a much better product, but for others it's not competition that the ATV is the better pick.
