That's so true. And so far what we have seen. Although I'd have expected the playbook to be on bigger discount as well as any older "slim" PS3's as the super slim 250/500gb are here and possible PS4 next Christmas. Although $199 for 160GB isn't too bad (WM etc)

The deep discounts are usually on items that are being phased out. (Eg. LCD tv's or led with basic specs 60hz 720) so if its sitting in the warehouse in large quantities then we'll get it.

a couple ppl monitoring the the system is a lot better than a fully staffed store. i mean, do they even celebrate xmas in India? but seriously, finding a handful of ppl that don't care about xmas is easy. and i'm sure they don't mind getting paid the overtime.

totally agree with that too and it's not as if everyone celebrates christmas anyways.

Wow I hope they don't get to me like they did to you. It must be horrible not eating with family against your own will. How do they do it? Does a salesperson show up at your place and take you hostage?

To me my annual family dinner is worth much more than saving a few $100 bucks...if I was alone maybe, but anyone with a family who takes saving a few bucks over spending quality time with loved ones is to me in the same group as someone who goes to the bar or the casino instead of spending time with their family and needs treatment.

Not directed at you directly...just in general since I'm tired of seeing people complaining that the sales don't suit their own personal schedules.
I am able to do both. Doesn't even interfere with my family dinner. :D Only takes a couple minutes anyways because I just look at the RFD flyers in advance and pick out what I want to get. :D

Whether or not the deals are any good, people will be trying to convince everyone else that they suck.

there's always a few good deals.
there's always ppl that will buy stuff that's a 'normal' price just because it's tradition to shop this time of year.

the thing is, if you're on RFD year round, and buy stuff when you need/want it and not just once a year, the chance of there being something spectacularly priced that you actually want right now is super slim.

i used to LOVE boxing day, and i'm not talking 15yrs ago either, i mean even just 5yrs ago, and it was simply because i didn't know any better. i've bought a lot of stuff on boxing day, and some of it has been a good price, but not any better than what's available in feb, or oct, etc.

i wish there was something out there that could make me open my wallet and be happy about it, but the truth is there's really nothing i even want, at any price right now. and that's just because i buy things as they come on sale throughout the year and i already have what i want.

and that's why i'll probably be one of the ppl complaining about how weak the sales are, because the couple of things that actually are a good price, will be things i wouldn't touch for free anyway. everybody raves about that 43" sammy last year for 299. truth is if i bought one it'd be the worst tv in my house, and i already have too many. i don't know what i'd even do with it. doesn't mean it's a bad deal. just means it's a waste of 300bux for me.

Glad I was not the only one unhappy with the trend. Christmas Eve dinner is a tradition and having the sale as you are supposed to sit and eat is an insult to the holiday that's the reason for the sale to begin with. Start the sale at midnight 26th. It has to suck to work for those companies IT, too. I wish somebody would start a boycott or at least give them some negative media exposure.
Actually Christmas season is not the reason for the sales. The reason is become December is End of Quarter AND End of Year. Their last chance to make their store look good and successful. It's only chance that the season of giving falls on retail end of fiscal periods. Another way you know it has nothing to do with the season of giving, how much giving do the stores actually do for the sake of "giving at no personal benefit"? Sure all the stores do charitable acts, it's to show they're not always 100% monsters. Still notice every store encourrages people they need to buy in order to give? That $500 gift card apparently has been rescinded. Personally I think they should give out many gift cards of random values to random people in line. Not just 1 lucky person.

finally, somebody else that gets it...

nothing is being forced on you. you guys act like it's impossible to not buy something during boxing day.
You really think RFD is not fully of shopaholics? I think for the shopaholics on RFD it is impossible not to buy something during boxing sales.

I'm surprised but everywhere online that I looked I can't find, at least no advertised deal on:
  • Bulk sized recommended LCD/LED cleaning liquid without cloths/wipes (I know some RFDers already suggested distilled water & Isopropynol).
  • High airflow/powerful laptop/notebook cooling pad/fan
  • 4-port KVM switches
  • Wireless keyboards with backlit keys & pointer control (thumstick/trackball/trackpad whichever)
  • Bluetooth Stereo Headsets w/Mic
  • Wireless 5-button (click wheel counts as a button) laser mice w/tilt & scroll wheel, that works on a PS/2 to USB port adaptor. For example original Logitech MX620 before fast scroll wheel model.
These I just wanted opinions/recommendations what is:
  • Fastest reliable 2.5" SSD on sale?
  • Better deal/quality than 800-Watt Cuisinart 5.5 Qt. Stand Mixer $279.99 Model: SM-55BCC futureshop web only boxing day flyer? 250-Watt Kitchenaid Mixer $100 in Futureshop liquidation flyer? Breville 550 Watt Steel Bench Mixer $199.99 Model: BREBEM800XL futureshop boxing day flyer?
