I Think the new iPad pro is a huge upgrade in terms of performance build quality and has face id recognition ...i am very skeptical on spending that much money on product which is fading away fast although deal is looking pretty good

I agree with you on the performance part, but build quality, not really. https://www.macrumors.com/2018/12/21/ap ... -ipad-pro/

If you want slim bezels, USB-C, face ID or Apple pencil 2 support, go with the 2018 versions. If you simply want a larger iPad with LTE/GPS, the 2017 is a very good price! The bezel is not that bad and it gives you extra space to hold. Touch ID is also more convenient IMO as you don't have to raise the iPad to unlock.

This is a hot deal as BBY looks to sell thru old stock.

Most stores only received 10-15 in stock. If you really want one that morning boxing day line up awaits you.

I prefer to call it, aesthetic-curving. Haven't you seen all these curved monitors? same idea :D

I agree with @mattdominic

The 2018 iPad is a HUGE improvement. Forget about the rest. Just consider USB C and the possibilities that opens up for the iPad. I am now looking for a Ethernet and HDMI adapter that will work with the iPad. Being able to ditch the lightning port is just icing on the cake.

There is NO excuse for dropping the head phone jack on such a massive device. It's just purely cost cutting and arrogance by Apple. Don't be a fanboi trying to justify a dick move by Apple...

I have a bunch of apple stuff and I agree. Music is what brought me back to apple 15 years ago, so ditching the headphone jack for inferior bluetooth is an outrage .

First time you forget to charge your headphones you'll know what he's talking about.

I’ve had the 256gb 10.5” 2017 iPad since last year, and i can say that, when the 2018s released, I was so tempted to sell and upgrade to it.

After 2 weeks of being hyped up by YouTube videos and a few visits to the apple store, I went back to realizing that no one ever needs the latest. Mind you, I own almost everything apple (just don’t have a HomePod) and I can honestly say that there’s nothing the new iPad can do much better than the 2017 versions.

If saving $600 is not an issue, definitely get the 2018. If you’re on a budget, and want a LARGE iPad, i would highly consider these 12.9’s at the price. The only thing the A10X won’t be able to follow with in the next few years is probably video editing.

Yes, I’ve had Macs since OS 9 as well. To be fair you can still use your headphones but you need to buy a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter (Dual splitter if you wish to charge at the same time). Which is annoying and an extra cost.

I have no idea if Apple removed the internal DAC and now houses it in the adapter or the DAC still exists and the adapter merely passes the output to analogue out.

All unnecessary conplications tbh and only benefit Apple’s bottom line by ‘stream lining’ hardware and software across the lines as well as additional monitization from accessory/airpods sales. A more cynical person could even conclude it’s part of a longer term master plan by Apple to nodge everyone towards (inferior) BT audio.
