I wipe every drive and install clean Windows on all computers I set up for family. Really different experience and performance after getting rid of all the garbage they come with, including McAfee.

what about for a Mac? what do you guys recommend?
I have a 5-user Kaspersky subscription. I have it installed on the Mac, but with it turned off so it won't take resources. I run a scan every once in a while just in case.

I have to agree that McAfee is worse than useless. The only thing I've ever bought it for was competitive upgrade rebates.

Note that even Microsoft warns that it's freebie ain't what it used to be and does not recommend it: https://www.howtogeek.com/173291/goodby ... antivirus/

Since I quit using any anti virus programs my computer's been problem free.

I swear these programs are viruses themselves.

This is a virus in itself. Please don't get this garbage and get something like Avira or Windows Essentials for free
Well said! It's comparable to doing a one-night-stand with someone you just met for the 1st time that night and wearing no protection.

If you'd do that then McAfee is for you! Winking Face
