Twice the price for 3 inches more and IPS panel instead of TN. Hmm... Interesting deal nonetheless. thanks!

If I remember correctly the TN one was 699, that makes it 200$ extra for 3 inches and IPS.

Will give it a shot, reserved in store, thank you.

The 40" is VA.

I'd take the VA over the IPS for every application except graphical work. VA is far better for dark scenes in games while the IPS colour accuracy would be better.

I returned the 40" Phillips cause dota was too hard to play on the monitor. I have a 4k capable rig too.

I wanted the 40" but didn't end up picking it up. I read about some issues with this one so I'm not sure if I want it.... plus I don't NEED it now (although it would be nice). I think i'm going to wait to see if USB-C monitors go anywhere and maybe pick up a 40+ USB-C one if they ever come out

Depends on what kind of games you play. If you do shooters I'd go for a 1080.

Guys... I've gotta ask... Why not use the 55" rca 4k TV as a monitor for $499 taxes in? That's what I am doing and it's fantastic. Why pay more than double for a much smaller screen?

Hey Sickbeast,

I got the 40" Phillips and returned it cause it was too big on my desk. How far do you sit from the 55"? I also own the RCA but it's still in the box since I got a 65" the week after.

I'm about 8' away, my computer is an HTPC. I find it easier on the eyes. And I can sit closer if I want things to be more immersive for gaming. Actually I think a 65-70" screen would be ideal from my viewing distance, it's just that they are cost prohibitive.

55 is too big for desktop use, 43 might be as well. I got a deep desk so sitting 3' from a 43 inches might be OK.
