The controllers are quite good. I prefer them over the Xbox 360 ones for games that don't require analog sticks. E.g. SNES games.

The hardware is supposedly around raspberry pi3+ level? And is more powerful than the SNES classic.

The built in emulator is garbage and the games run in low fps. Hacking it is a must. And it is fairly easy.

The psc can emulate things up to n64 well. Retroarch itself has a steep learning curve though because the ui is garbage.

If you do hack it, you will need a USB hub (powered preferred) if you need to have multiple controllers plugged in because one USB is occupied by the USB stick. The $20 insignia one at bestbuy does well.

I do regret buying it though because my laptop does everything better.

general question.
do you need to use a powered usb hub to play any two player games on an emulator?
As one of the controller ports is taken up by the usb drive.

aka 2 player mario bros ect.

Thanks

Gentlemen, skip ahead to minute 6:50ish.

The new emulator build is solid. Apologies for the boring narrator.

That's Nintendo, bud. But they are working on NES, SNES, MAME, etc. I'm thinking a 128GB USB slim key should hold most every game on those platforms.

This could be truly great.

I'll buy when it hits negative $5. I need compensation for the time and effort it takes to place an order and receive it in the mail. What if the delivery guy drops it off at my front door? Then I have to bend over to pick it up and carry it all the way over to the trash can. I'm not doing that for free.

N64 - BETA FOR NOW

Bud, it's here already, I misspoke. You can get NES, SNES, and MAME Arcade games (and yes even N64 beta) on the PSC, now.

I'm teaching myself as I teach you, apparently.

Thank you for sharing this.. but still after installing rooting this console the Mario bros game doesn’t look as same as it looked in those old days.. like graphics wise visuals

I'm hating myself for admitting this, but the PSC is actually a decent cross-platform emulator in a compact, clean, package with a decent controller.

Here are more consoles that work in varying levels of beta:
Genesis
Sega CD
Sega 32X
GameBoy Advance
Sega Dreamcast (Yes, you read that right...)

Sega Dreamcast

How did Sony fail upward so hard... that they produced a robust all-purpose cross-platform emulator-supporting device?

Sega Dreamcast plays in slow motion. That's not going to be enjoyable at all.
