Just a few notes.
-I had to countersink the screws that attached the "wedge" to the door frame so the Ring bracket would sit flush
-i drilled pilot holes to mount the ring bracket to the "wedge" because the screws were right at the edge and I didn't want the wood to split

Good luck!

Lowe's still has it for $129.99. Plus, Lowe's has either of $15 off promotion (scratch15) or tax free (SALE). Attempting...

great job,
yea it's not as easy as they show you on the tutorial if the door frame is like that.
and the bell wires don't have a lot of slack to play around neither.
The pro version may look better with a frame like that, plus you don't have to worry about the battery.

Did usual buy first and think later, and bought this item from lowes. Delivery is on Monday and I just realised that my existing doorbell is wired onto the tiny storm door frame. It would be impossible to install the Ring in that spot.

I am guessing this comes with a battery pack- and I can install it on another location without hardwiring it?

I have read some old reviews where people have mentioned in the past- live feed is not accessible with battery powered Ring? Or has that been updated since then?

If that's the case- i might have to return this and buy the Kuna instead.

edit: posted the pic with the current doorbell.

you will need to drill a piece of wood as an adapter to fit the doorbell like the previous poster.
I am surprise the company didn't think of this problem when they design the product

RING sells the corner wedge kit.
https://shop.ring.com/collections/insta ... 1454248991

It also appears that the newer RING doorbell models come with a corner wedge.

BTW, Bed Bath & Beyond Canada has also the RING doorbell for sale at $129, for all 4 finishes.

I just ordered one from Lowes using their discount code. $115.04+tax.

Does it come with the basic chime in the box?

Not sure my current wire is long enough. Is there a way to extend it?

I believe ring is on the exclusion list. So 20% coupon does not apply?

Can we please use BB&B as an abbreviation for Bed, Bath and Beyond since this thread is about Best Buy. :)

You can easily extend your doorbell wire by splicing on additional length. It's low voltage and low current, so any gauge of wire should be ok as long as it's not an excessively long run of very fine wire.

The challenge is usually that you can't get behind the wall to extend the pre-installed wire there, so you have to run it along the outside wall, and somehow make it as unobtrusive as possible.

Ideas:
- tuck a fine wire under the edge of some nearby wood trim
- use wire that's colour-matched to the outside wall, and run it along an edge or corner where it won't be very visible, such as where wood trim meets stucco.
- if you have brick, either run grey wire on the surface of the mortar between bricks, or chip a shallow channel into the mortar, bury a fine wire, and cover over with concrete patching paste

If it's neatly done, it won't be too obtrusive, and you can always remove it later.

$0.75 in BC.

The application of extra electronics taxes (a more accurate name for Eco fees) is pretty erratic across the country.

Bought this on Thursday from local Best Buy. Thanks OP. Was easy to install and works well until now. Sometime overnight the power to the unit was lost (hard wired). When you press the doorbell the indoor chime doesn't ring and the blue ring doesn't illuminate on the Ring device. Will investigate after another cup of coffee and reading some more RFD :)
Also, I think losing the ability to view recorded events after the 30 day trial period sucks without purchasing a subscription. Who would pay a monthly/annual subscription fee for a fricking doorbell? Not a serious RFDer.
Question: anyone have experience with a good doorbell cam that works with Blue Iris that also has the intercom capability?
