My wife and I are perfectly aware of the alternatives, thank you. *
Seriously I think you both would be better off with a diaphram or cervical cap if you don't want invasive (IUD) or hormonal in terms of feel/comfort/convenience/cost.

If you want to blow off all other alternatives what is the core issue, trust? You need a method you can control? then you have bigger issues than picking a condom brand.

It's absolutely beyond me how men are ok with going through a surgery vs the simple IUD options out there. Absolutely nuts.
surgery? its like 5 mins max, they can do it at the doctors office now a days and ohip covers it. they put a local anesthetic on your nutz, make a small incision and cap it with a titanium clamp, and your done, all you gotta do is sit on a bag of frozen peas for 2 days and u should be fine.

the IUD is not forever, it usually expires after 2 years or some crap like that and u gotta remove it, give it some rest and get a new one put back in. but the snip snip is permanent, and if u want to undo it, its a lengthy complicated process and not covered by ohip

Okamoto 004 are my favs, but hard to come by and expensive because their a premium brand. Plus they're Polyurethane so they transfer heat better.

How about we just give the guy the advice he asked for, rather than being smart asses.
Sorry I can't help you OP. Don't need em, don't use em. But it's got me thinking. Maybe we could do a little testing and get back to you.
How about the rest of you helping out?
We're all academics here...

In all seriousness OP, I don't think there exists a condom that guarantees 100% effectiveness.

Men have control over the surgery. They don't over the other stuff.
Could HAVE, not could OF. What does 'could of' even mean?

Men get the surgery almost exclusively after having kids and being married. It's no longer "I don't trust this new GF doesn't want to get banged up intentionally for lifetime child support"

This is when both people as a couple decide to have or not have children anymore

Boy I am glad this stage of life has passed in my marriage...
Over 40+ years we have used pretty much every form of BC
Years of hope & pray (ie the rhythm method) - Condoms - The Pill - The IUD - Diaphram
By far the best form... was our last
The old snip-a-roo
It was easy peasy
In an out of the Surgeons Office in about 20 minutes
Paid for by OHIP
Op done on a Friday... bag of frozen peas thru to Sunday
And back to the office on Monday
All clear about a month later

And... the bonus
After that our sex life got a real boost
Pretty much anytime, anywhere
All the stress of getting pregnant had totally disappeared
Took someone in their 40s ... in a time machine back about 2 decades
To our HS / Uni Days

No regrets

But then we knew neither of us wanted any more kids

That’s the place to start an honest heart to heart about kids
And all the possible what ifs
(Of which there can be numerous... what if you died, what if I died, what if a kid died, what if a kid needed bone marrow / organ transplant etc)

But the biggest what if, might be...
What if you don’t get this done
And she turns up preggers in her 40s

Saw that SURPRISE BABY happen to a few couples we know

Very traumatic

And in some cases not only life changing in the regular expected way
(Parents in 40s to a healthy kid who won’t leave home for at least another 20 years
*sigh* can really ruin the mood ... and one’s finances ... and make Mom & Dad old before their time)
But there’s also a possibility to have a kid with issues ... health problems

That’s a huge risk

Much easier to make the snip snip decision when you can
Before you don’t have much choice in the matter at all
Big scare = last resort

It's absolutely nuts to compare a vasectomy with an IUD. It's also nuts to have an opinion on someone's preferred method of birth control when you don't know the details of their context. You seriously can't imagine reasons why someone would choose a vasectomy?

If you know for sure you're done having children, go for the snips... No more worries....

But first, you must have a serious discussion with your partner. It's not a decision to be taken lightly because though it's possible to reverse a vasectomy, it's not always successful.

My serious discussion with my partner went something like this:

Me: We've got two kids. The youngest is now 6 months old. I'm going for the snip.
Her: Are you sure? I'd be open to having another one.
Me: Not with me. Two is enough. I'm stopping here. My body, my choice.

That was that. This was almost 15 years ago, best decision I ever made, and she agrees!

Hmm. $750 for snipping.
I'm totally interested now.
