I like Seattle's Best Coffee.. Aside from really good coffee, they have the best mochas and chai lattes of the franchises.
I used to like second cup too but haven't been to one in ages, the last one I knew of in vancouver closed a while ago..

The only coffee franchise that I like is Coffee Republic, though it is not in Canada.

Tim Hortons is not good coffee. Just ubiquitous. They've ruined their donuts. But I look forward to the day that Playboy does a Girls of Tim Hortons spread (but not the ones who've been dipping into the inventory).
I like Second Cup and Country Style. Timothy's is okay too.
Starbucks has to learn not to burn their beans. Coffee Time is a nightmare.

i voted for second cup--they are not great, but better than the rest of the list.
tim horton's is decent coffee--medium roast, tons of caffeine, and a unique flavour (most swear they must put crack in it, it's so addictive) that is very palatable to most canadians. starbucks is hit or miss on some of their blends, although i don't have as much problem with their dark roasts as some have mentioned. timothy's is actually very good, since they often brew kenyan AA, but they generally aren't too daring and brew a lot of flavoured coffees, not varietals. country style is generally pretty bland coffee--their freshness is the only redeeming quality. i agree that coffee time is horrible--not much better than a coffee truck, and in some cases, worse.
second cup makes an effort to cycle its selection, always has a variety of roasts brewed, and their coffees have good flavour.
but by far the best is the little coffeehouse in my hometown: it brews a fantastic selection, including organic coffees, and i've never had a bad cup in over 2 years.

I agree with wiggy's quote....
Crappy Tim's is only sucessfull cause they flood the market with there stores ( 4 stores & 1 mini hortons in this town). Elsewise there coffee is crappy & so is most of there other products which I also agree many years ago it was of great quality.
If me & a friend get a chance we hit the Williams in wasaga beach .. great quality dark roast arabic bean coffee. Usualy get quite the cafine buzz if ya drink it on a empty stomac.
There products offered as well are of good quality as well.
Waiting for Krispy Kreme's to open up more stores so I can try there coffee with there kick a$$ donuts.

I don't drink much coffee. However, following the recommendations of my co-workers, I have been surprisingly impressed by the coffee at the internet cafes inside some London Drugs. Definately among the best regular coffee I have ever had.

Speaking of coffee inside retail stores, one thing comes to mind.
I like the coffee inside Indigo for some reason.

Freshness of the grind affects taste as much as the choice of beans/blend.
I prefer coffee at places that grind the beans fresh.

van houtte
mmmm coffee
not sure how many of you have van houtte coffee in your workplace... but being a coffee lover like myself...
i'd vouch for VAN HOUTTE over timmys or any of the others...
i've learned A LOT about coffee over the years and there's a ton of factors that go into the 'right' cup of coffee... starbucks and second cup use dark roasts which really have no flavour whatsoever... when i drink my coffee i like to 'taste' it... savour it...
you should try it... if it's not at your workplace i know sobeys carries it (in my area anyways) and maybe longo's i think...
