Best digital camera deal on Boxing Day?
just got my FS/BB boxing day flyers in the mail today.
FS has Samsung Digimax A400(4 megapixel, 2"Lcd screen and 2.8x optical zoom) for 179.99
BB has Sony Cyber-Shot (4.1 megapixel, 3x Digital Zoom) for 179.99

Does anyone know if these are good deals? I am leaning toward the Sony one because of its brand. also i think Sony has a charger that comes along with it so i don't have to worry about buying batteries.Last edited by ericyjh85; Dec 22nd, 2004 at 04:11 PM.

One is hardware, the other is software
Think graphics cards. One can render a game through hardware, the Intel onboard through software only.

Optical ZOOM is not a must better to have it. Unless your digital zoom is higher. Cameras with NO Optical like the sony one $179 cheap!

Not a clue what you are trying to say.. But Optical zoom is the only zoom to consider. Digital zoom is done just as well on a computer.. anyone would be foolish to buy a camera without optical zoom. Originally Posted by mtevie

The Canon A60 at $149 (refurb) is a MUCH better deal. Here
Cant't believe I payed $399 for that less than 2 years ago

I can comfirm that.
I've got a sony digi-cam with only digital zoom. I like the camera, but I'm considering upgrading so that I can have optical zoom.
Digital zoom is more or less worthless. You can only use the zoom when you lower the resolution. At max resolution you can't zoom at all. For me to use my 3x digital zoom I have to lower the resoltion to VGA, which makes the picture look like crap.
Basically digital zoom is the same affect that you would get if you took the full picture and just zoomed in with photoshop. Reply With Quote

Damn, still haven't found a decent digital camera deal now that all the flyers came out. Although the $269.99 for the HP 5.1/3x Optical isn't bad.
