Best DVD to AVI converter?
I'm looking for the best and quickest DVD to AVI file converter. I have a media pc in the living room now and I want to put the few DVD's I have into AVI format and just put them on my PC. Any suggestions? I have Nero but its sloooooooooooow and I find that it doesn't do the greatest of jobs either.
I've already moved my 200+ CD collection to mp3 for the PC and man it was a task and a 1/2! Took forever! But using LAME made the quality awesome._______________

I'm looking for the best and quickest DVD to AVI file converter.
Quality isn't the best, but for ATI cards with hardware MPG4, using their converter (Catalyst plug-in) is really fast.

I was reading around some forums and what some people do is use DVDDecryptor and then that Auto Gordion Knot thing. I'll check it out when I get home from work tonight. Thanks guys.

is HDD space a concern? If not, just iso the dvds and mount them with DEAMON Tools when you want to watch it. You maintain image and audio quality. And it a lot quicker than encoding dvds to avi.

autogk is the tool u want for this. not sure if u have ur comp hooked up to an audio reciever to get 5.1 but when using autogk, just make sure for sound to use original DTS/AC3 and check of the 6channel track and u will have to do file size as 1400MB (or 2 cd's) to keep a good quality and keep the 5.1 sound.
