Best and easy way to get rid of old 1990 Accord?
I currently own Honda Accord 1990, already has around 302k km, body has quite some rust, needs brake job and probably few other jobs.
I just bought a new Accord and am getting the delivery next week. I'm planning to transfer my current plates to the new car. So now I need to get rid of my old car. I tried for trade-in but the dealer was offering me $200 and was charging MSRP for new car, but I managed to get a descent discount off MSRP with no trade in.
Any suggestions regarding what to do?Last edited by JohnyM; Jun 10th, 2006 at 11:10 PM.

I would've took the $200 for it, although personally I would've negotiated maybe a little bit more (now it's too late). Honestly, you'd be lucky if you can sell that thing for $500 bucks on autotrader. So you can either try to get rid of it by selling private (i.e. autotrader), donate it or go back to the dealer and tell them that you would like to re-consider the trade-in.
Selling privately will have its complications: 1) risk of not being able to sell it at all, 2) can take a very long time to sell, 3) will take up space of driveway/garage.
Too bad it's summer now and not winter, you MAY be able to sell it to someone looking for a winter beater although I'd imagine people would seriously would want a beater would get something in better shape than your car as it is today.

Jun 11th, 2006 09:02 PM #11Since most likely the dealer would just donate the car, He was offering $200, but making more on the price of new car, So I got better discount (better than APA) on new car without trading-in my old one. Anyway my old Accord still gave me a last benifit. I got 2.9% financing for 60 months on new Accord using Honda Loyalaty Program.

Post an ad for free on Craigslist, someone will happily give you $500 for it.
