That place is Hamish's Kitchen. You might've saw "Hastings" at one of the maps of Scotland that they have up on the wall. But regardless, it is a good place for fish and chips. They really pile on the chips and the fish (I only get halibut) is nice.

Fry Basket on Yonge St. (a bit North of steeles) has delicious F&C. The place serves all day breakfast as well. Well battered halibut and the homefries (~$13) wasn't too bad either. I gotta say, they have giant pancakes there. Too bad they are only open until 3-4pm depending on the day.

I've had the fish and chips there and it's ok. Good but ok... you really can't compare to a Fish and Chips specialist place, where that's all they do. The sizes are huge, but so is price. Basically, it's not a better deal.
Pretty good and probably the best deal for price and amount you get is at Aunt Mary's.. it's right on Golf Club Road and Lawrence Ave. East in Scarborough (NE corner).
Another really good fish and chips place is Duckworth's at Kingston road.. just west of Midland. Really good.

The food court at Woodbine Centre has a fish and chips booth and is relatively inexpensive. And they serve all types of fish including tilapia and snapper.

Newbie
Off the Hook on Broadview south of Danforth is my favourite place for fish and chips. They have a great selection of fish (mahi mahi, red snapper, rainbow trout, etc), batter (organic, cajun, gluten-free, etc.) and sauces (curry mayo, cucumber wasabi, chipotle etc.). They also have pretty good poutine too.

Seems that Frank McNie owner of High Street Fish & Chips used to own Hamish's Kitchen.

Haven't had F&C for a long time but last month I went to St. Lawrence Market for the first time in many, many years (was a kid when I last went there) and I saw they had this big F&C stand there at one end. Is that any good? Also any suggestions for around Markham/Richmond Hill. Scarborough is welcome if its worth the trip.

Talk about a blast from the past, I love that place, they even let you split bacon and sausage on their breakfast menu (then they started to charge for it). The RFD office eats at The One That Got Away all the time as it is right down the street from our office. It is alright, a little too expensive but that's King St. for you. Kaitlyn recently went to The Big One on Queen St. just west of Spadina and had a glowing review of the place. Will have to try it to see if the review is justified!

Hmm I live near this place, I should give it a shot some time.
The Fish Store & Sandwiches
In this sliver of a shop, sandwiches are made from ultra-fresh fish housed in an iced display case. Customers choose from wild salmon, halibut fillets, yellowfin, black cod, lobster, scallops and soft-shell crab. After you place your order, the fish is grilled, topped with a tangy vinaigrette and a sheaf of lettuce and served in a fresh roll from the neighbouring Golden Wheat bakery. Piscine perfection. $5.99–$11.90. 657 College St., 416-533-2822
