Best fwd car for snow

Right now I have a Ford Escape which is great in snow,
however it is not great on gas . I usually hit the roads
in Toronto before the plows have cleared them so I am
looking for something with four snow tires that will do well
in this situation. I am not looking for AWD, but something
with decent ground clearance. I am looking at approx.
$25,000 OTD new. SUV's OTD for this price doesn't seem doable
new, that is why I am looking for a car.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank-you

Korean imports have SUVS under 25000. The CX-5 is another popular one too.
But you'd be going for the barebones at that price unless they are offering some rebates.

Factor in another 6-900 for the winter tires as well.

Koren cars have been selling well that they have jacked up the price. I am certain none of them are priced below $25k

If your okay with Suzuki Its going out of the car businesses you could probably get a good deal on a Grand Vitara.

Subaru Crosstrek.

If you are going to be tackling unplowed snow, AWD is much better than just FWD or RWD.

You are looking for a car great in snow for $25k, and HAS to be fwd? Why? Makes no sense..

Just get an Impreza or legacy and call it a day.

The best FWD car in the snow is going to be the one with a mechanical limited slip differential. Having said that, for $25k you could easily get a new Impreza or CrossTrek and be even better off than with a FWD vehicle.
