We had a contract with bell that is ending this summer. We have had very slow service and are looking to get a different provider. Before, people on rfd suggested teksavvy and companies like that but now that bell throttles, I was wondering if there are any other companies that are better. What do people think about Yak? Are they any good?
Any and all suggestions are welcome, thanks in advance.

ANy DSL ISP that you go with will be throttled Unless you go with Rogers I Think (but could be wrong) they removed their throttling but now they have a 60gb cap or something which is pretty low.
One thing you can do is go with a company that support MLPPP I know Teksavvy supports it (since I'm on it and currently bypassing the throttling) also Acanac I think does it and 1 or 2 other isps.
You basically need a Router like a Linksys WRT54GL to bypass the throttling but there are ways to do it through Windows and so on. More info here, http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r204...-two-DSL-lines
So best isp right now is probably Teksavvy, $29.95 + tax with a 200GB cap which most people wont go over in a month._______________

thanks, I appreciate the information. I wasn't aware that bell was in control of all the DSL providers with the exception of Rogers. I'll definitely look into teksavvy. I was also wondering if anyone knew anything about Yak? We use them for long distance and are very happy with them. They have a 5mps high speed service that is unlimited broadband and without a contract for $35/month.

ACN is another service you can try. High Speed internet (highest they have I believe) is 5Mbits/s. Goes for about 35 bucks a month. No limit on upload and download.

You can get by the TekSavvy throttle with a 2Wire modem. You just create a PPPOE in Windows and enable Multilink in the settings

Hey guys, I want to say thanks for info even if I'm not the OP. Having the Rogers bandwidth cap with the entire family on one plan has been making me feel pretty claustrophobic.
