best mid range used commuter car?

hi everyone. similar question to one i posed last week, but figured it was worth its own thread.

originally was leaning toward electric or hybrid, but after more research and some great responses in another thread, i'm now considering ICE vehicles as well

what's the best commuter car around?

looking for the total package, gas mileage, low initial cost, comfort/fun to drive, storage/roomy, reliable, cheap to maintain, fully loaded. what's the best?

preferably under $20k used

fyi i'm commuting around 80km per day, sometimes have to do the commute twice in one day. about half the distance is city, half is hwy. in vancouver bc.

thanks in advance!!!

Yaris or Scion iQ if it's purely for commuting to and back from work.
Civics and Elantras as well.

You're not going to find anything with the "total package" at $20K.

Fun, reliable, cheap.

Pick 2.

Take fun out of the equation, a fully loaded Toyota Corolla iM is probably one that matches the rest. (The problem is the term fully loaded can mean different thing to different folks).

Less speeding tickets.....

yes, it's an ongoing joke/truth that nothing cost less to run than a beige Corolla.

Cop couldn't risk getting into an accident pulling you over. Gotta protect them tax dollars. 😉

Maybe you looked good to him/her, did he/she wink and did you wink back?

Hopefully beige will be available with the Corolla hybrid.

Might fulfill my life-long fantasy.
