Best Online Retainer to Purchase Lenses From?

I need to buy two new lenses; a Sony 55 1.8 and a Sony 85 1.8

I see that most retailers have a very strict return policy about returning opened lenses. But Sony lenses can have some copy variation with soft corners, etc.

Are there any online retailers that have a good return policy for this kind of thing? I don't want to be stuck with a "defective" lens"

I'm thinking Amazon would be the best place to order from?

Authorized dealer, good return policy, good prices when on sale or have codes available, can use ebates, etc...

Search on RFD for past deals and discussion about shopping on Dell.ca.

Google for codes and ebates, etc.

Any good ongoing threads for Dell.ca discount codes? I've looked but can't find much. I know Staples has a huge thread. Does Dell as well?

Why not go the used route? I've had two copies of the 55 1.8, and both were stellar copies. I've never really heard of sample variation with this particular lens, but yes with some other Sony lenses. Also on the note of sample variation. I would say its mostly people being nit picky, and zooming in corners to 400%.

Also are there no good local camera stores that will allow you try out the lens before you buy it?

I know B&H photo will allow you to return it for pretty much any reason, as long as its returned in its original condition. If you do a return an item, you do have to file for a refund for the duties and custom fees through the CBSA. B&H will not do this on your behalf.

Go local to avoid the pain of returning lens by mail.

Can't buy local (no retailers). Don't want to buy used (it's a business expense anyway).

Take a trip to NYC lol.

B&H/Adorama would be your best bet.

It's a shame that Sony lens vary so much between samples.

Check photoprice.ca for supposedly the best prices with different retailers.

I find their selection of retailers in Canada to be sparse.

I usually go with B&H, but they recently switched to UPS for their shipping to Canada.

avoid B&H. it's a big hassle getting a refund for HST paid. they won't even provide the import receipt which is needed to fill out the B2G form.

yes, I'm OK with paying return shipping. but not refunding tax paid is just not acceptable. the worst part is that B&H won't even provide the necessary import receipt. i have to beg UPS for sending me the claim paperwork.

I guess Henry's or The Camera Store, their return policy is reasonable.
