Best renting resources - Vancouver?
My wife, family and I will be returning to Canada on Monday after spending the better part of a year in South Korea. We'll be moving to Vancouver as I've been accepted by UBC for their 1-year B.Ed. program. Now, we've been living in Regina for the past six years, and the scope of finding a place to rent in Vancouver is boggling my mind. How do I even begin? We've narrowed down our priorities to 3 bedrooms, in-suite washer/dryer, and $1000 or so per month, hopefully with utilities. I'll be taking the bus to school, so while it would be nice to have a short commute, saving money is the greater priority. We'll be living with my parents (...) for a few weeks until we can find a place to stay, and if push comes to shove we can stay there for the year, but we'd really, really not prefer to go that route.
It seems we can find such a place if craigslist is any indication, but I've read that craigslist isn't a great place to find places to rent. What other resources are out there? How do I do this?

If you are busing to UBC, look for a place near 4th ave, Boardway, 41st ave, and 49th ave in Vancouver. These streets have direct bus services to UBC.

just a thought--ubc might have some married/family residences that are close to campus--or then again, maybe not, but it might be worth inquiring

I think looking for a place near King Edward Ave will be a good idea. Has direct bus to UBC.

Thanks for the advice! Looks like we lucked out on UBC student housing - a townhouse that was exactly what we were looking for, for $1188 per month including utilities, and a 20 minute walk to school to boot! Again, thanks for the input.
