Best Video Card for around $100?
Looking to get into some PC gaming again this summer, and need a new video card. I built a computer last summer and barely used it, pretty much just used my laptop since then. Literally I've used it like once, right now its not even connected lol.
It's got an i5 processor (2500k I believe...lol I can't even remember cause its been so long since I touched it :/) and 8gb ram, just didn't get a new video card because I didn't plan on playing games.
Whats the best video card to pair with my system to play some newer games at max settings, if thats possible? I'll probably play diablo, and would maybe get into some resource intensive games so I want something decent.
I'd look into used btw, since I could probably get something better for the money.

There are several threads discussing best video cards in a price bracket. Use the search feature to find them (search "best video card" etc.)
Check idiotcanuck's thread best video cards under $100, under 50, in ongoing deals discussion forum. OP has the latest deals in this price range updated and the discussion is relevant.
There is another thread in ongoing deals discussion forum for video cards 100-150, 150-200, etc. The same poster maintains another thread discussing the same in hot deals forum. The title of this thread is something like best video cards 100-150...

A little over $100, but the 6850 or 7770. I think the 6850 is a little better overall, but it uses more power and will produce more heat.
If you want to stay close to $100, the 7750 is a decent card, but the other two are worth the extra money. None of the cards mentioned will be able to play the more demanding games maxed out, but the first two should be able to run most games with high settings.

I can up the budget to $150 if needed, I just wanna have some fun with newer games this summer and I play on a 1900 x 1200 25.5" display, so I'll need something decent.
I guess in reality I could even spend more than $150 if I wanted to, but then I feel like I might end up not even getting into anything lol.
But yea, with the extra $50 can I do much more based on my setup?
The reason I made a thread rather than just watched hot deals is because I'm unsure exactly what I should be going for since I've been out of the loop for the past year, and even with my own research I just like the opinion of others.
Thanks

This XFX HD 6870 for as low as $140....currently $155 after MIR:
http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/part/xfx-...ard-hd687azhfc
HD 6850 start at $125 and up.
Tom's Hardware rates the HD 6870 as a great performer at 1920x1200. HD 6850 as only a good performer in most games at that rez.
HD 6850: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ew,3107-3.html
HD 6870: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ew,3107-4.html
For example, BF3 in High at 1920x1080...HD 6850 41.92 fps vs. HD 6870 51.60 fps.

I'm leaning towards the 6870 now since I can get it for around $150. Based on the resolution and monitor size / comp specs, I probably wouldn't notice much of a difference with a $200 card, would I? If its a significant different, now I'm thinking about upping it to there lol, but I wouldn't go higher than that for sure.

I was offered this card - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814125371
for $220, but brought it down to $200. Is that worth it, or should I take a 6870 for around $130?

Hope that you have a big PS....6970 consumes a lot of power. 7850 is more of a comparion than the 6870...consumes less power too.
