Best way for free US calling

Hi all, looking for free/cheap ways for US calling. I have a google voice number
1) I am ok with if its home phone with an adapter. I don't know the latest state if Obi200 adapter still works or not?
2) I have been using Google hangouts from iPhone but its choppy and delayed

If it is for home use, get a Google Home Mini and link your google voice number to it. Then just ask google to call someone in your address book or announce the be dialed.

I have no problems using an obi200 with 2 GV numbers.

Guess it depends on how often you're calling and if you need a number displayed. I've always just used hangout dialer on my cellphone to call the U.S. It's free and sounds great. No call back number though, so that might be a problem for some.

Hangout on my cell using weak wifi/data is terrible and US receiver complains alot. However, using Google Voice (same credential as hangout) on obi202 at home, haven't got complains yet. Also hangout is better at home where wifi is good.

Just to ask a dumb question...if you do not have a GV number you can still use the app to call the U.S. over wifi with no fear of carrier charges, correct? Just have to assume your cell dose not lose wifi during the call and switch back to LTE for example? Calls will just show as UNKNOWN or Private..

I'm not sure what number shows up on the other end, but I have used the app many times to call the U.S. and I do not have a GV number.

correct. It just goes over WiFi. I've even done it without a sim card in the phone before.
