Best way to upgrade RAM memory on new Dell 8300

I recently ordered a new Dell 8300 system, and thanks to advice received on the forum didn't pay Dell the $240 they wanted for an upgrade from the base 6gb to 12gb RAM that I need.

My question: what's the best brand choice/deal on appropriate memory to get me to 12gb? I believe there are four slots with 2gb x 2 and 1gb x 2 = 6gb today. I suppose there are several options on how I get to 12gb. I could buy and install

4gb x 3, or
3gb x 4, or
4gb x 2 and keep the 2gb x 2 already in place?

Here is the Dell upgrade option (that I didn't take):

12GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz - 4 DIMMs*
$240.00

And where's then best online or Toronto store to buy it?

Thanks!

Buy the least amount from Dell and upgrade it yourself.
Choose from NCIX, Canada Computers, Infonec, PC Village, whoever has the best price. Attempt to pricematch with NCIX if you find a better deal outside of Toronto.

Thanks to both of you. Good advice. And thanks for the link.

Defective chip set? Ouch. I imagine they'll let me know? (and I'll subscribe to an RSS-style alert)
